"What's wrong, Addie?" Lennox asked his wife, noticing Adrienne's unusual silence. They were in their car, attending Myrtle's graduation ceremony to show their support. Myrtle's graduation ceremony was scheduled a week earlier than Adrienne's, so the latter had a chance to attend. 

"Just thinking about how to answer Val's question. She's been pestering me to tell her how we met." She looked away, but Lennox noticed the slight blush on her face. 

"Just tell her you smacked my face at our first meeting." He grinned. "What a way to meet my future wife, isn't it?" 

Adrienne's face turned crimson. Whenever she thought about their first meeting, she couldn't help but feel ashamed of what she'd done. If Lennox had quite a temper back then, he might have punished her for her insolence. 

"How could I tell Val such a thing?" She grumbled. "I still have yet to apologize to you for what I did back then."
