I didn't know whom to ask where the guild was located, so I decided to ask the person who was closest and had no company. I found the right person who turned out to be a man with a sword on his back.
"Mister". I spoke to him, but he seemed to ignore me. "Mister!" I spoke to him again, only this time I did it with a higher tone.
"What do you want kid?" The man said with an annoyed expression. Seriously he looked like he was upset, but it's not like I care.
"Sir. Can you tell me where the adventurer's guild is?"
He just sighed and pointed me down the road and said. "Keep going straight on that path until you come to a wider street, take the left path of that street until a junction. At that junction take the left path again, and keep going straight until you see the guild. If you don't know what it is like the guild just ask someone else and don't keep bothering me." After saying that, he started to walk away.
He surprised me that he answered me, I thought he was just going to tell me to fuck off and follow his path.
I started to follow the instructions he told me and although it took me a long time, I finally managed to find the guild.
In front of me was the large building, which handles people who want to venture inside the maze.
I did not hesitate to enter the guild.
When I entered I could see a wide space. There were counters where the receptionists serve the adventurers who entered and all the adventurers who did their own business.
I approached the counter and went to a black-haired receptionist who wasn't serving any adventurers.
"Excuse me".
When she noticed me she said, "What can I do for you?".
"I want to register as an adventurer. Can you tell me how I can become an adventurer?"
She stared at me for a few seconds. "You shouldn't be in this place, go back to your family and come when you're older."
"I am orphaned". When I said that she made a sad face for a few seconds and then she went back to normal.
"They also told me that age didn't matter when it came to becoming an adventurer."
She just looked at me with a little pity and then led me to a room where she was away from her and started to explain "To become an adventurer you need to be part of a God's Familia".
Before I could ask, how do I get to be part of a God's familia? She just continued with her explanation.
"It will be difficult for you to get a familia because not many familias accept children and there are Gods who take advantage of their children. So it can be dangerous if you receive <Falna> from those kinds of gods." When she finished saying all that, I wonder "by the way, do you know what is the <Falna>?"
"Yes, it's the grace of God, so don't worry."
"Well, at least you know the basics. As for how to get the falna, you just have to get the approval of the God you chose, receive the falna, and with that, you become part of his familia. If he doesn't accept you, you can simply look for other Gods who are willing to accept you into their familia."
Before she could continue with her explanation. I started to ask her a question "Can you recommend me some Gods? And if so, they have no problem accepting me and they don't have a bad reputation" I don't want to end up with a God who is like Apollo, Soma, Freya, or something like that.
I saw her show a face of reluctance when she heard my question. But she said "Wait a minute" She started to leave the room and when she did it was my turn to wait for her to come back.
Although I didn't have to wait long because she came back several minutes later.
"Do you know how to read?" She asked me as she held some papers in her hand.
"Maybe".
Now that I think about it, I have not had any problems understanding or communicating with the few people I interact with, despite not knowing Japanese and subconsciously ignoring that fact, because I heard them speak in English and now I don't know if the same will happen when reading or writing.
I left my inner thoughts when I saw her frowning and she started looking at me with some doubt and asked me "What do you mean by that?".
"I have some amnesia and that's why I don't know. I could try reading and give you a definitive answer." When I said that, she just frowned and proceeded to hand over her papers.
"Do you know your name?"
I was going to make up a name, but I remembered that the gods can detect lies. Better safe than sorry so I'll have to give my real name.
"My name is Liam."
"Anything else you remember?"
"Apart from my race and among a few other things, I have forgotten almost everything."
She nodded her head and handed me the papers "Well, Liam, here are some gods that can meet your requirements, if you can't read I can do it for you when my shift is over" She said with a warm smile, which affected me. quite a lot and tried to ignore that feeling and just thanked her.
"Thank you". I started reading the papers and found that I could read them without any problem despite not knowing any of the letters or symbols.
She saw that I could read without any problem and said "Let me know when you finish reading" and left the room.
On the sheets, you could see many small and medium-sized familias that showed basic information about each of them. Like the number of members and their levels, what the familia is dedicated to, be it explorers, blacksmiths, alchemists, merchants, etc.
Discard all the non-exploration ones, because I want to have my adventure and dive into the dungeon. This may be a new experience and I can't imagine having a boring life without internet access.
Too many show up so also rule out the medium size ones, I don't think they will accept a child of unknown origin. I selected 4 familias that had 3 or fewer members and were only level 1. I'd better start with the one that caught my eye the most before it gets dark and I have to sleep on the streets. Also, I start to feel hungry and I don't have any valis to buy food.
I left the room and went to the receptionist "Where can I find these familias?"
She gave instructions on how to find these familias and said "In case someone accepts you into their familia and gives you the falna, you can come to the guild to complete the adventurer registration, and in case the familia that accepted you doesn't count with valis, to get the equipment you can request them from the guild."
"Thank you so much". I started to go towards the exit of the guild, but before doing so I remembered something "By the way, what is your name?".
She seemed to go blank, and it seems she remembered that she hadn't introduced herself. "My name is Alya." She said her name with a smile.
"I hope to see you again," I said while she smiled and left the guild.
