In the meeting room of the Central Intelligence Agency's Lincoln Countermeasures Group, six members, five males and one female, looked at each other in disbelief.
"Lincoln might be building a mech," was something they initially didn't believe at all.
After all, they had the most intelligence.
When they first received the task, they had indeed put forth a lot of effort. The amount of intelligence and analysis related to Lincoln had already filled up three whole filing cabinets.
Even after they had adopted a laid-back attitude, they still clocked in diligently every day to play games—California was close to Mexico, and they had official technical and equipment support, so their game experience was far superior to the average American player's.
Combining the two, they could unpretentiously proclaim, "We are the group that understands Lincoln best in all of America!"
Based on this understanding, they initially had 80% confidence that the blueprint was not for a real mech.
