Chapter Twenty-Eight: Fight

The walls of Orcrasist were tested once more. Thousands of humanoid squids attacked the walls. They were about 1.2 meters tall and had tentacles as arms. Yet they still managed to hold weapons in those very tentacles. Their heads were just a full on squid, while their legs were somewhat human. These monsters were called Squidras.

The Squidras used basic elemental magic to launch attacks on the walls. But not all of them were blessed in the arts of magic and had to get their hands dirty. Hatches, swords, spear axes and all kinds of weapons were used by the Squidras. Those who were incapable of using magic attacked the wall with their weapons.

Up on the wall hundreds of the village warriors had gathered. Many stood ready with their spears, while fifty of them used their bows and arrows.

Arrows rained down on the squidras, killing hundreds of them. But there was no end to them and more kept coming.

As the fight was going on Jantyr suddenly felt something probe in his consciousness. Then seconds later he heard a voice.

"Deity, if you don't want the girl known as Jasmine to die you better send someone to pick her up!" it said.

"Who are you!?" Jantyr asked. His stress was through the roof, as there was no end to the Squidras, when one died two more monsters emerged from the ocean. Not to mention that was miles away, meaning there was a whole army of tens of thousand Squidras. They had become the first line of defense for the country, unwillingly.

"I'm the being that was trapped in the ruin, I sent them out just now! You can talk to your worshiper again and all that stuff. She will appear where you last sensed her. Send someone with power to pick her up. Due to the ruins, powerful beings, greedy for power, will begin to move when they've felt the presence of my prison! Things like monster lords will probably send their minions to check me out. Don't let her die, Deity! I need her!" was the last word the being said before it went silent.

Jantyr thought for a while and decided that sending Lenart was the best option, so he quickly ordered Lenart to go pick up Jasmine.

After Jantyr explained the situation to Lenart he could only pray things would go well. For he can't affect things more than he already has.

Everyone participating in the fight grew stronger from each kill. Just not in the same way anymore. Before they would grow stronger all around. But now Jantyr's energy only enhanced their bodies, power and potential and increased their affinity with weather.

~Pov Lenart~ (First person)

I clenched my grip around my wooden spear and walked up to Howard. The wall was in chaos as archers ran back and forth to shoot all magicians they could find. Howard was taking a bit of a breather, as he was out of breath. His arrows were imbued with lighting, making each strike deadly, but also taxing. I worried about leaving him here. But I know the other eighteen original warriors, who all learned bowmanship, got his back.

"Jantyr has ordered me to go pick up Jasmine and her friends! So I'll be leaving you here for a while. I'll be back as soon as I can, I promise!" I said.

Howard lazily raised his head and looked me in the eyes. "You shouldn't worry about us. It's hell out there! You should be careful, understand. No needless use of energy, or random heroic deeds. We need you back here alive and uninjured!" Howard said, while firmly starring me in the eyes. Not allowing me to retort in the slightest.

"Yeah yeah, got it!" I said and twirled my spear.

I threw my spear up in the air and jumped up to catch it. Letting lighting run through my body I pointed the spears tip downward and hurled it at the ground. As the spear hit the ground stones were sent everywhere and an explosion of lightning killed everything within ten meters of the spear.

I gracefully landed next to the spear and picked it up. Using the wind I enhanced my speed and threw myself forward. I allowed lightning to once more flow freely around my body, electrocuting all Squidras close to me. While using my spear to cut down anything that got in my way.

I was running with all my might towards Jasmine's last known location. Energy constantly filled my body, as Squidras died at my hands.

Four hours later I arrived. Hundreds of Squidras had managed to come all the way to the ruins and tried to break in. Many actually somehow entered, but most of them failed.

A steady line of Squidras, hundreds of different groups that had separated from the main squad had made it here. I killed over thousands of Squidras on the way here. Each one that died gave me less and less strength. Their mediocre amount of energy had almost no effect on me anymore.

As I was cleaning up this place too, I heard a loud noise and felt a disturbance in the mana. When I turned around the gigantic ruin was completely gone and at the entrance I saw an older, more mature version of Jasmine.

But I noticed the remaining Squidras running towards the noise. So I quickly made a barrier of lighting around them and made it rain, while making the wind rage.

I killed them quickly and ran to Jasmine. She had severe cases of frostbite and each of her limbs were destroyed. The other girl also had frostbite, but she wasn't injured in any other way. While the man was unhurt. Most likely just passed out from exhaustion. But no rest for the wicked!

I grabbed the man and lifted me, Then I started rocking him back and forth. He quickly woke up and panicked, even using a dumb spell called Vineious on me. But I just shrugged it off and threw him on the ground, slightly denting the dirt.

"Listen here kid, I'm a friend of Jasmine! I was sent here to rescue her and her friends. So get your shit together, because we have a long journey ahead and you're carrying the other girl!" I told the cheeky brat and he nodded. Complying to my wishes easier than I thought he would.

I enhanced both of us with wind magic and propelled us forward. He screamed at first, but adjusted to it quickly. Then he started running along with me. Even if I had to slow down so he could keep up. But hey, it gave me the time to kill all the new guests that had arrived. Most likely escaping from our battlefront.

The boy grew tired very quickly and I had to let him rest. But we still needed to move, so I made him and the girl fly next to me and ran even faster than before. Thankfully the energy I got from killing the Squidras was still enough to renew my lost energy and I was somehow able to keep him flying for hours until we reached the wall again.

The kid even had the audacity to fall asleep again.

The situation at the wall hadn't improved in the slightest. The only good thing was that their corpses weren't pilling up due to us sacrificing them to Jantyr.

I threw the kid and his girl up to the wall and jumped up myself. I didn't fail to create a thunderstorm and hurling a bunch of lightning at the Squidras while at it. This also served to announce my arrival.

I quickly searched for one of the soldiers using spears and told the nearest.

"Take lady Jasmine and her friends to her mansion so they may rest, now!" I ordered and left the trio. Only to get right back to fighting.
