MARCOS
It seems everything is going in our favour, and I think we're having too much luck. Gabriela had gone shopping with Kevin, Alex would be distracted with Ana, and she would be with her guitar, not paying attention to us, so it's our opportunity to ask what happened in Holland that Gabriela didn't want to talk about. The reason why she left without saying anything.
Right now we're all in the kitchen, except Kevin, Gabriela, my sister and Alex, and that's the moment we should take advantage of to investigate, but I had no idea how to ask so they wouldn't realize something is happening. We were looking for answers. At this moment they were just talking about Gabriela and things she did when she was little, apparently being pregnant made them start to remember things she did when she was little.
"Why do you always speak so highly of her? I know she's good and all, but she had to do something, there must have been some mischief." Nerea said "Not all of us are like you Nerea." her sister replied, which makes the first one roll her eyes. "Before you all kill me, I know I'm complicated and I do too many things I shouldn't do…" Nerea began. "At least you recognize it." Roberta murmured next to her "Shut up Roberta. The thing is that I can't believe Gabriela was like that, so responsible and she doesn't show her feelings as easily as she does now."
"She always did the feeling thing, and always responsible. I'm sure she would do some mischief without us knowing, she's good at hiding things." From the way Carlota face lit up at this moment, I guess those words were what he needed to start our investigation. "I'm sure when she went to Holland she got into too many mischiefs, she didn't have anyone to control her or anything."
"She didn't, the only thing he did was study, she was learning languages other than Dutch. The only time the four of us went out, we were in a club and out of nowhere she starts screaming like crazy." Nerea informed "That's not like Gabriela." I said "I know, but that's what happened. What I remember later is Kevin went home with her to her calm down, the only thing she wanted to do was go home."
"And Kevin didn't tell you why she reacted like that?" Carlota asked, trying to see if she could discover something. "That's the strangest thing." responded "Why?" Carlota and I questioned at the same time "Because Gabriela didn't tell him anything about what happened to her. She was locked in the room for about four days. She didn't go out at all, practically didn't eat."
"That's not normal for Gabriela, she wouldn't lock herself in a room, much less hide something from Kevin. Nothing good had to happen to her for her to react that way." I said, "I know, and the day she came out we asked her what had happened, she said nothing, her drinks got to her head, which I don't remember her drinking, and she exaggerated things. After that, she practically spent her time studying."
"But when she came back she was fine, she looked happy." Lara said with a frown. "I think that was more of a facade than anything else, because I remember all the effort Kevin had to make to get her to come back and not worry so much about her." Roberta reported, "Did she wanted to stay longer in Holland?"
"Yes, aunt, it's weird she didn't tell you. I guess she wanted to stay because she fell in love with Holland, it's a beautiful country." Nerea defended as if we had offended her. "I don't deny it, but everything is weird, since to begin with I don't know when she decided to leave. She just left." Lara said, "I don't know, aunt, the one you should ask is Gabriela, she's the only one who knows the answer."
Just at that moment Kevin enters the kitchen with the shopping bags and there's no sign of Gabriela, but I must assume she had gone to the garden with Alex and Ana. The surprise came when these two enter the house and continue without a trace of Gabriela, and everyone notices that, stop to look at Kevin.
"Kevin where is your cousin?" her mother asked. "Camila called her and went for a walk with her." reported "Who is Camila?" Alex asked with a frown. "Gabriela's aunt and best friend since she was little," Angela reported. "The aunt? She didn't tell me she had more aunts." mused Gabriela's fiancé "She's her best friend, I decided to adopt her when she didn't have anyone in her family to stay with."
"You've probably heard of Camila, but not as her aunt." I reported, "She told me about one Camila." He admitted, still confused, "Well, it's the same Camila." I assured "But when did he come back? "She didn't say anything that she would be back" Angela pointed out with a frown. "Mom, Camila always goes on her own, you let her have that freedom."
"But I thought she would let me know if she came back." The woman replied, "Surely, she wants to surprise us and that's why she didn't tell you, after all we haven't seen her in a while. We know how Camila likes attention." Lara pointed out, "She's right, Grandma, but since she crossed paths with Gabriela, she decided to go for a walk before returning home."
"Are you sure that's it, Kevin?" Angela asked, raising an eyebrow and crossing her arms. "Of course, why would I lie?" Kevin questioned "I don't know, I'm just curious." She said, as if she didn't completely believe the man. "You know I wouldn't leave Gabriela out there alone, I wouldn't let something happen to her, you all know." he pointed out and we nodded, because at least that's true. "We all knew just like we know she's your favourite cousin, Kev."
"Then what's all the interrogation for?" He asked in an annoyed tone. "It's not normal for you to react like that over a simple question, Kevin." I pointed out "Well, it's your imagination Carlota, Gabriela stayed with Camila. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to meet Álvaro, let me know when it's time to eat."
"And aren't you going to have to go get your cousin?" I asked curiously "It's not necessary, I can go." Alex responded quickly "Oh Alex, how are you going to go if you don't practically know the place." I pointed out with a big smile on my face "So if he can't go, Carlota and I can go, we do know the place."
"It's not necessary, she told me she would let me know when she wanted me to go pick her up, and if she doesn't do it before, let me know so I can eat again. You should stop worrying about her, she knows how to take care of herself. How do you expect her to stay calm when you all aren't when you don't know were she is?" Kevin said in an accusatory tone "Okay Kev. Now you should go if you don't want to keep Álvaro waiting."
"If I make him wait it's your fault." And with that he left the kitchen leaving us all without understanding anything. I must admit he's right, we couldn't pretend Gabriela calmed down when we told her if when we don't know anything about her, we stress out, and Alex and Ana could be said to be the ones who were the calmest, and to me.
"There's something weird here, it's not normal for Kevin to act like he just did." Angela said, frowning. "Do you think it has to do with Gabriela?" I asked "I'm sure Gabriela will be fine. If anything happened to her she would call someone. Since she's pregnant, that's what she does. If I were you, I wouldn't worry so much about her." Alex said, sure of what he was saying. "And aren't you worried that something would happen to your fiancée and that's why she won't come back to Kevin?"
"Of course, I'm worried something happening to her, but I know if something happens to her, she will tell someone. You should trust her more. As Kevin said, she knows how to take care of herself, and she'll be with her friend, if something happens to her, she will let us know." Alex said and Ángela nodded "That's true, we should stop worrying so much about Gabriela, she's older and knows what she's doing. She was fine when she left and when she comes back, she will still be happy. And now let's focus on making food, because I'm sure as soon as they arrive, Gabriela will be hungry."
And with that everyone went off to do different things. Alex returned to the garden to continue practicing with Ana, Gabriela's cousins went to get some things at the other house and both I and Carlota went to the garden to see how Ana was doing with the guitar, it had been a while since I heard her play, but from what Gabriela told me she's good, I don't know if I should believe that, every mother would say that about her son, and even though Gabriela is not her biological mother, she practically raised her and they both loved the other, they wanted it as such, so that was the most important thing.
