Hollis caught up to Jack, who huddled near the fence behind the cabin cruiser. The man was out of breath, his eyes wide in the moonlight. /"You shot it,/" he gasped. Hollis crouched down, looking under the boat's keel. /"Yeah,/" Hollis answered. Several feet away, that bony spear-like digit was spiking the ground as Rhonda drew closer. /"But that didn't kill—/"

/"Yeah I know,/" Hollis said. /"Come on, stick with me./" He grabbed Jack's shirt at the shoulder and pulled him out from behind the cruiser, across the yard to a much bigger tug boat.
