Selena was unusually cheerful, but Brett did not ask why. When Selena was happy, she did not pester him about getting married. That was a blessing enough in Brett's life. Besides, a happy mother yielded a happy baby.

This happy mother was in the mood to cook, and she wanted Brett to help out in the kitchen. Having nothing much to do today, Brett agreed to help out.

And there was the Alpha, peeling potatoes and dicing onions as instructed by the Luna. Selena leaned against the kitchen counter, observing Brett's handiwork from behind.

Unbeknownst to Brett, Selena was trying hard to curb her nervosity. The syringe and the antidote were safely tucked in the drawer behind her. Her hand kept flying toward the handle, but she was unable to take the items out smoothly.
