The young woman did not know what day it was. Or what month it was.
In fact, she did not even know what time it was.
All she knew was that she had been abandoned and left to die alone.
In the beginning, she still had some energy left in her thin body, so she kept pulling on her shackles, causing the chain to rattle against the cold stone ground as she voiced out her grievances.
In the end, realizing that her efforts were but futile, she stopped trying.
No one heard her.
Even if they did, they would not help her out.
It was alright.
Dying in this manner was also a good thing.
And it was not going to be long now...
Inhale, exhale...
Inhale, exhale...
Inhale...
The young woman closed her eyes, a peaceful smile lacing her lips as she succumbed to the sweet embrace of death.
She was just wondering whether there was life after death or whether she would land in either heaven or hell when she heard a distinct cracking sound.
