Chapter 249: Come Find Me
Ellis POV
Getting the kids settled, Luke, agreeing to watch over them while Livy and Jenny worked, I got into my work clothes and prepared to go down to the office for the first time in a long time.
I’d once heard a famous author asked how he chose to be a writer, to which he replied that he didn’t. Being a writer wasn’t a choice so much as a compulsion.
I knew exactly what he meant.
Everyone had their faults and frailties. It was part of being human. I tried to do everything to account for my mind, but there were a few that still slipped through the cracks, despite my best efforts.
Along with an ambition that could be considered obsessive in the most positive of lights, was a drive toward practicality that could get to the point of danger. If I wasn’t being useful, ‘using my powers for good’ as it were, I was left to wonder, if only momentarily, what exactly was the point of me?
