The Dragon Banquet

A Moon passed. The sun's rays dimmed lightly. A lingering warmth basked over King's landing.

The residents stared above at the sky, all of them dressed in their best clothes. Some of them were on their knees, some of them with their mouths agape, and a lot more staring with wondrous expressions.

Three dragons.

Three dragons flew in circles. An attestation to the legacy of Old Valyria, the last dragons. The Targaryens.

Vhagar, Meleyes…

And.

Neltharion.

At the plaza outside the great sept of Baelor, thousands and thousands of smallsfolk gathered. Tables were lined up with delicacies. Similar to the plaza, smallsfolk gathered not only there but at the sept of Baelor and all across the city. Even Flea's bottom was not without candles up and food that was being lined on the table by the servants.

The menu was seemingly simple but with a hint of luxury.

Freshly Baked Bread and Butter: A variety of breads served with butter and honey, possibly with roasted garlic or herb-infused oils.

Olives and Pickled Vegetables: A mix of pickled vegetables, olives, and cured meats from Dorne and the Arbor.

Onion Soup: A hearty soup made from caramelized onions and rich broth, topped with cheese and croutons.

Pigeon Pie: Small individual pies filled with pigeon, leeks, mushrooms, and bacon, seasoned with herbs.

Roast Suckling Pig: A whole roasted pig, stuffed with apples and herbs, served with a rich gravy.

Spiced Beef: Slow-roasted beef rubbed with a blend of spices, served with a rich wine sauce.

Fish from the Blackwater Bay: Freshly caught fish, grilled or baked, served with lemon, garlic, and fresh herbs.

Mushroom Stew: A thick stew made with various mushrooms, herbs, and cream.

Mashed Turnips and Potatoes: Creamy mashed turnips and potatoes, seasoned with salt, pepper, and a hint of nutmeg.

Lemon Cakes: A favorite in the capital, these sweet, tangy cakes are served with a dusting of sugar.

Spiced Cider:  Warm cider flavored with cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.

The guards and the additional guards hired, all of them scurried around the city to maintain order and if not them then the dragons that glided above were a symbol enough.

The entire King's landing was decorated and few people from nearby lands too had arrived for such a great event that would be marked legendary in the annals of history.

A parade of musicians, dancers, and performers marched across the main streets and gave some of their best performances celebrating the grand event.

Exotic dancers from the narrow sea showed their styles of dancing while the wives of men decided to leave them be and find better men.

Puppet shows across the main locations of the city amused the children and the old alike. Jugglers and acrobats performed their feats of agility, entertaining crowds at the banquet with their feats of agility.

Some ate fires, some swallowed swords and some swallowed dicks in the background. Public competitions like arm wrestling gave prizes to the winners, illusionists and magician performed their tricks leaving the mouths of the folk gaping open while some choked on food.

Minstrels and Bards sang folk songs, songs of bravery, ancient feats, and the newly created song about the Baelon the Savior, The Light of the World, The Son of God. A title that had suddenly stuck to the vampire prince, especially after his feat of bringing Dorne into the fold, and solving the War of Stepstones… all under a week of being recovered from being sickly.

All the men thought that it was a miracle, even the priests of the seven preached aloud how Baelon was the Messiah, this simply strengthened their belief in the future King.

A man like this had never been seen. If not that then the fact that Blackfyre had blazed with flames like legends of old about flaming swords and the fact that he tamed a wild dragon… feral dragons that no one can actually tame and those that succeed never had a great bond with them. The dragons still disobedient.

If this man was not the Anointed One…. then what was he?

A blood-sucking beast of a man?

That's impossible!

Of course, some men held thoughts that Baelon was not blessed by God but by Evil however, these were the minority. There are always haters where there are lovers.

Performers cosplayed as the prince in every spot of King's Landing where the banquet was held and acted out in a heavily exaggerated manner how he defeated the Crabfeeder, feeding him to his Dragon. Then how he seduced the princess of Dorne after killing her father in a righteous play of swords after he denied the offer of joining the fold. After that how he valiantly flew across the seas to Driftmark where he boldly declared to Laena Velaryon. "Shall we get married?" With this, the play would then end.

Ravens had been sent to the lords of the realm long ago, of course, it had been unprecedented then that Baelon would marry Laena, the ravens were about the Miracle of Baelon and the Grand Banquet to be held in Kings's landing on a moon and a fortnight.

The Lords of the realm from every corner of the United Westeros had arrived. Each with an equal amount of pomp, accompanying their paramounts and warden.

Now in the Red Keep, like the Smallsfolk another banquet was being held. One grander and more luxurious than the one outside. All the nobles were present, in the same room. All the powerful people of the realm. Yet there was no attack, no disturbance with everything going well.

No one had yet begun to eat their food, and everyone was silent. It was still hot and smelled delicious. Up till now, only city festivities had been ongoing and more celebrations to come after the ritual of the banquet. They were all waiting for their paragon to begin.

King Viserys sat on an armchair that looked more like a throne away from the nobles and on a higher platform. Beside him sat Allicent, Rhaenyra, Otto, Daemon, Aegon, Aemond, Daeron, Lucerys, Jaecerys and Rhaenys.

A small smile surfaced on his face, although there was discontent amongst his family, they all sat with him without any trivial fighting. After seeing the glory of the banquet that was being held, he would say they were all behaving poshly. Even Daemon.

"Ah." An expression of glee escaped Viserys's mouth as it resounded across the quiet room.

The creakings of the door widened and Ser Joe Mary swiftly walked in.

Thump. Thump. Thump. The knight marched.

His heavy metal armor flanked and his footsteps were powerful. Opening his mouth he took a deep breath in and spoke with energy.

"All Hail!! BAELON OF HOUSE TARGARYEN! HEIR TO THE IRON THRONE! PRINCE OF DRAGONSTONE!! THE MESSIAH!!"
