Surprise gift

Soon enough the entire body was drained of blood and Alex grabbed a hold of it with his jaws and began dragging it away from this spot before a hungry anjanath or gods forbid rathalos showed up to investigate. Alex could only grit his teeth however at how hard it was for him to move the corpse even with all it's blood drained as it easily weight twice as much as he did and was also bigger than he was by about that much. Sure he was happy at killing a stronger opponent even if it wasn't a straight up brawl , but now he had to drag a heavy body all the way back to astera.

'That does it!' Alex hissed mentally while dragging the body towards the sea. 'I don't care how long I have to sit still , I am definitely learning how to carve monsters when i get back.' He decided seriously as he finally broke through the tree line and reached the sandy plains outside the forest. A quick check of the area latter and Alex began hauling his corpse at a much faster pace then ever even if it strained his muscles considerably.

The reason for this was because he was now out in the open so if any predator were to enter the area he would definitely be noticed immediately. Thankfully none showed up so Alex got the body into the sea without any issues at which point he wrapped his tail around the neck area and began to flap his wings letting him take off into the air. This created the funny image of Alex hovering above the water as he flew since the corpse was weighing him down as he towed it on the waters surface.

There was a small commotion when Alex showed up at the dock with the dead great jagras and even the commander was surprised since he was talking with the foreman about supply distribution when Alex was spotted. "What's this all about now?" the man asked Alex curiously. Alex wrote on the ground "feast for the fifth" with what was undoubtedly a smug look. An interesting that Alex had found out about all forms of poisons in this world was that they all broke down within a few minutes after they were used. This meant even the most heavily poisoned meat would become perfectly edible if you waited long enough.

The scholars had complained about this to Alex a few weeks ago when a hunter from the fourth brought back the poison sacs of a pukei pukei at their request. This fact was why Alex had no qualms with using poison to hunt even if the plan was to share the meat. Still the commander smiled at Alex and patted his chest confidently. "Let's make it a party they won't ever forget!" He said with an excited grin. This had honestly been an idea the commander had wanted to do but didn't have enough food for in astera at the moment but Alex's prey fixed that problem perfectly.

"You heard em folks get that salty lizard up to the canteen so the chef can work his magic!" The foreman barked out sending people into motion to do exactly that. The commander looked at Alex with a more serious expression after that however. "To be honest I was rather worried that Zain's actions had soured your opinion of the fifth fleet but it seems my concerns were wasted." He said with a small smile. Alex shook his head and wrote "never judge a group based on first impressions , much less based on the actions of a single member."

The commanders smile grew when he read that "Wise words indeed." he agreed honestly. Alex gave the commander one final nod before he walked away to go take a short nap. Much like most days at this time the three little children sought out Alex to use him as a playground while he ignored them to sleep. It was an odd thing to see for most of the fifth fleet as the three kids tired themselves out and went to sleep on the large dragon.
