Shaolan Li 3

Author: Read the auxiliary chapter in volume 0 first

----------

Shaolan hated her parents. Leaving home, she didn't leave any last note or anything.

Which made Ukano and Michi confused and angry. They didn't know how much Shaolan wanted to escape this life.

Sick of looking at his rebellious second daughter, though he looked relieved nothing bad happened to her, Ukano said firmly, "Young lady, from now on, you're grounded!"

Hearing him, Shaolan replied with sarcasm, "Grounded again? What's the difference between before and now?"

"Don't argue after what you've done now; you're a frail young lady; it's only for your own good!" Ukano said loudly, leaving the room. He was furious and wouldn't listen at all.

Shaolan was rebellious, and he was used to it. But he wasn't used to her running. This time she had gone too far.

Shaolan didn't just need to learn fire nation etiquette and history with the special teachers coming home to teach her, but also how to listen to her parents.

"Stop antagonizing your father, Shaolan. Let's get back to your room; you need to lie down and rest." Michi sighed and said when her husband stormed off, leaving them in the room.

Father and second daughter were like water and fire. Mai wasn't exactly a fan of both her parents; she was faking her good nature to get things. But she still got along with them better than Shaolan did.

As a fire nation magistrate who thought about all sorts of things to advance his career, such as marrying off his daughters, Ukano loved polite and mannered children. So did his wife Michi, but that wasn't because she saw benefits and family honor. Michi wanted the safe lifestyle. She wanted the best for herself and her children. And, like a lot of moms, she thought she knew best.

Shaolan had to say she wasn't exactly wrong… But he knew how the future of the fire nation would go…

He also knew what kind of person Ukano was.

Unlike her husband, and with the sick Shaolan at least, Michi was open to affectionate, spoiling talks.

Mai didn't have that privilege because she wasn't sick all year. Also, she had things to lose by being as unruly as Shaolan.

Shaolan didn't have much to lose. Except for the old dolls she stopped playing with, and the books in her room, she never had much going on.

She never asked for much, either. Though she had a good face, she was like the old Shaolan from Earth. Cooped up in a dark room.

Shaolan was a sick but beautiful young lady. She was even a bit more beautiful than Mai.

They looked almost identical, but Shaolan didn't let her hair grow. She cut it at every chance she could to vex Michi. Also, so Ukano would think twice before marrying her off. To any young noble willing to take care of her.

She often reminded him she could go stupid and bald on the wedding day. Or do something entirely worse.

It all wasn't very subtle, certainly... But plainly put, Shaolan was a maverick who didn't give much fuxx.

------------

Inside Shaolan's bedroom.

"Why did you do that?" Michi looked at her daughter with a scowl. "You know your father... But you also know how sick you are. You could have died… Why did you run off like that?"

Shaolan's natural hairstyle was different from Michi's and Mai's. Though her hair had grown a bit now, it wasn't long or kept.

If young Najenda from Akame Ga Kill had black hair, brown eyes, and more tanned skin, she would be Shaolan.

The new Shaolan answered, "I'm sorry, mother. I won't do it again." He was tired of that discussion, and it wasn't his fault.

There was not much debating to do with parents in that kind of situation, either. Shaolan couldn't bend, she couldn't protect herself, and she was sick.

Any way you looked at it, she had made a poor choice.

"Great. You should start listening a little from now on. Your father and I can sound harsh, but everything we've done is for your own good." Michi said, looking happy that her daughter finally listened.

"I'll have someone send you dinner; you should rest now. You missed your home lessons with the teacher today, so you have twice more of it tomorrow." She said again and left the room.

"Thank you, mother." She was closing the door, smiling at Shaolan when he said.

He was finally alone.

---------------

Sometime later.

Shaolan was eating and thinking.

He didn't know what Mai was doing, but she hadn't come to see him yet. Maybe she was with their newborn brother. She was fond of him.

Tom-Tom was born two months ago. And according to the system, there were only a few more months before Katara found Aang in his iceberg.

Shaolan didn't care about the fire nation or the Team avatar. But he wanted to get to Toph before them.

The ways she lived her life was a waste. And her daughter Beifong was a stupid coward who held grudges for years and couldn't stand up to her little sister.

Imagine not being able to stand up to your little sister or little brother? Even letting her walk all over you and scar your face?

Haha, Shaolan couldn't ever picture this.

If Toph was going to have a soft and dumb child like Lin Beifong, why not be his woman instead?

'Should I try and learn things that tire the spirit?'

'But except for Chi, there are not many types of energies in this world… Do spirits even use Chi? What do they use? I should check that up….'

Examining his abilities again, Shaolan was considering how to maximize the potential of a deathless soul with his fusion skill.

He was considering what systems he should spend his daily charges on next. Especially since those mini-systems didn't make him special. Like teachers, they taught him anything he wanted and could learn...

He wasn't a bender. And because he was in the world of ATLA, there was only Chi here.

There was Ty Lee in the world. And Chi blocking was something he'd learn even if he didn't have a system. But he didn't know about the rest yet. Maybe he needed the night.
