28: Impossible

"N-No way, this shouldn't be possible..." Ladybug mumbled. You were beyond confused. You shifted between forms, the action hard to do. The fog was interfering, but you tested nevertheless.

"...Hey, I remember your identity!" You pointed toward Ladybug with a large grin. She let out a 'Meep'.

"Y-Y-Y/N, don't tell anyone!!" She gasped, clasping her hand around yours and putting a finger to her lips. She then slapped both hands together, bowing her head, "Please, please, please, please, please...!"

"Ahahah, I won't, don't worry about it. I'm not much of a jerk." You smirked. She let out a sigh of relief.

"W-Wait, can someone tell me what's going on?" Chat asked, tilting his head slightly.

"I'm not so sure either." You shrugged. Ladybug let out a sigh.

"Neither am I... Her Akuma is gone. She shouldn't still have her powers or her memories..."

"Well, not gonna lie, I'm pretty freaking happy I still have them. Confused, but happy. They were way too cool to lose!" You laughed. Both of them sighed at your behavior but laughed along. "...It might have something to do with the flower, you know."

They both paled, the air turning serious. Ladybug bought a curled finger to her chin, showing she was thinking deeply.

"...Chat, where did you get the flower from?" Ladybug asked. Chat shrugged

"Ohh, y'know. Just some shady man in a trenchcoat in a strange alley. The usual." He shrugged. You sent him a pointed glare.

"And you didn't think it could hurt me?" You asked with a slightly mad tone as you returned to your regular form. It took the least effort to maintain, and the fog was weakening you. You hoped it was temporary. You walked out of the room, just for safety measures.

"Weell, I thought I might just give it a shot. If it actually did hurt you, I would have taken it away, but it didn't really look like it, sooo..." He trailed off. You let out a sigh.

"For your information, it gave me a pretty annoying headache." You grumbled as you walked off.

"W-Wait, Y/N?! Where are you going?" Ladybug called. You shrugged.

"Home. I haven't been there in a while." You sighed. Honestly, you were a little disappointed with yourself. You didn't really stir up too much trouble while akumatized... Though, you did get to beat up Jake. You should have taken his whisp, too.

You shifted into your dark form, deciding to go home that way since it was a lot easier. You shifted through the shadows, ignoring Ladybug's and Chat's calls of protest. You shouldn't show yourself to the public; people would get panicked if they just got cured but found you again. Now that you thought about it; didn't everyone know you? Your whisp form, at least? That meant you weren't gonna be able to do superhero work or whatever... That was disappointing.

You traveled to your bedroom window, turning into your regular form halfway. You were pushed back for a second, and held onto the ledge, half dangling out. You yelped as you clambered in, collapsing onto your bed as soon as you were inside.

You still had your powers. What did that mean?

That was all you could think about as you started to drift into sleep.

You woke up. It was time for school.

You stumbled out of bed, grabbing your clothes and washing up. You changed, had a small breakfast and rushed out to school. It was a normal day, and you felt amazing. Powerful, almost.

You entered the class, and all eyes were on you.

"Y/N!" They all yelled in unison. Was this rehearsed? The class surrounded you. Your eyes widened in surprise as you were engulfed in hugs. Of course, Chloe wasn't anywhere near you, but even Sabrina had run off to join the crowd. Some we're more respectful of your personal space while others literally threw themselves at you. Still, everyone was excited.

"U-Uh, what's going on here...? What's with the reaction? Did I do something while I was akumatized?" You asked, half because you weren't meant to know and half because you were genuinely confused. When were you this celebrated?

"Oh, right! She doesn't remember! Y/n, we have to tell you all about what happened!"

Various other shouts came from around the room, bubbling about how you did this and did that. You spied Marinette in the corner, giving you a questioning stare, most likely wondering about why you were faking it. You simply gave her a smile, ignoring her confused gaze.

You walked up to your seat once Miss Bustier entered, as did everyone else.

"Uhm, Y/n...? Did you really forget? Everything...?" Nathaniel asked, a glimmer of hope resting in his eyes. Maybe you should tell him. Maybe you should reveal that you had powers, that the mist did something to you, that you remembered both Akumatizations and everyone involved in them.

But... Wouldn't it be selfish to drag him into your mess? To burden him with this knowledge he didn't ask for? Not only that, but he could be worried. It might even be dangerous, considering if anyone found out, he could be a target. If he wasn't good enough at hiding it, both of you would be screwed. There were countless other ways where it wouldn't end up so we'll, so telling him was really just cruel.

Oh. Suddenly, you understood how Ladybug felt.

Still, though. Chat should have the privilage of knowing; he was a superhero himself!

"Ah, what am I saying..." Nathaniel murmured to himself lowly, snapping you out your daydream. He continued, "It's fine, Y/n. Of course, you dont."

His smile was comforting, but his tone was disappointed. You felt bad from keeping your knowledge from him. You had to do something...

"Well, I do remember something-" he perked up with curiousity. "A [snack]? Dunno why, or anything else. Just remember the taste of it."

Nathaniel's face broke out into a grin, to which you quirkeed an eyebrow at at confusedly.

"Eh?" You questioned, and he only shook his head, placing his elbow on the desk and covering his mouth. He looked forward to where the lesson was just continuing, the almost-daily compliment giving session ending.

"Nothing, nothing..." He spoke through his hand, but you could still see the smile that brightened up his eyes.

You were around ten minutes into lesson, and the door burst open, revealing a very tired Jake. He was panting, hunched over and using his knees for support. He straightened up, still out of breath.

"S-sorry, sorry... I'm late, sorry..." He breathed out. Miss Bustier let out a sigh.

"I'll have to mark you late, Jake. Get to your seat; we have a busy day."

Jake trudged up to his seat, and you noticed the bandage on his face from your Akumatization. He undoubtedly had others around his body.

You didn't feel sorry in the slightest.

You made eye contact and shared an electric glare. If you were going to reveal the fact that you still had your powers, it'd be to him.

Just so you could take his happiness right after.
