I am not a bad son

Junwei checked the documents and asked the chief engineer about the expected time in which the model would be ready. After having a detailed conversation, he left the workshop. He stepped into the elevator and pressed the button. The doors closed and he put his hands into his pocket.

If his grandfather hadn't called him, he would not have left the workshop early. He stepped out of the elevator and found Alex in front of him. He smiled at him and they went to the office.

"What are you doing here?" Junwei asked as he pulled the chair back. He settled on it while Alex sat opposite to him.

Junwei leaned his back on the swivel chair and it stretched back. He closed his eyes, waiting for Alex to answer.

"I met Sophie. She had come here earlier," Alex said and smiled.

Junwei promptly opened his eyes and tilted his head to look at him. "What was she doing here?" He questioned and furrowed his brows. "How dare anyone let her enter here?" He muttered and leaned forward to press the button to call Wang Zexi when Alex stopped him.

"She didn't come here. She was in the waiting area of the lobby. I happened to see her and then, I took her to my office. Because of you, no one dared to go near her," Alex stated. "How could you be so cold to a woman, Junwei?" He didn't like that Junwei was not acting the way a gentleman should do.

"You love to slack off at work. I had warned everyone in the company about it. You are also an employee here, yet you decided not to listen to me," Junwei got angry at him. "Why did you go against my order?" He felt annoyed.

"Jun, you have lost your mind. She didn't break into your office this time. She had been waiting for you since the morning. I did what as a human I should have done," Alex affirmed. He didn't like that Junwei for no reason was furious.

"You went to her because she is a well-known actress," Junwei showed him the mirror of the truth. "If there had been any other common woman, you would not have even bothered," he stated.

Alex was going to answer him when Junwei's phone rang. He leaned forward and looked at the phone screen. It was his grandfather. Junwei answered the call and brought it near his ear, "Yes, Grandpa."

"It's already 6 p.m. Your mother and I have left for the restaurant. Don't be late," Yu Ziyang said.

"I won't be late, Grandpa," Junwei said. His grandfather disconnected the call from the other side and he put down the phone.

"I have to leave," Junwei said and stood up from the chair. He wore the blazer that he had  and removed earlier and adjusted his tie. Alex asked him if he would not be in the workshop.

"I will come after having dinner with Mom and Grandpa. You can go home," Junwei said and picked up the car keys. He pressed the button and waited for Wang Zexi to come in. However, instead of him, Miss Qin, who was also in the secretarial team came in.

"Where is Wang Zexi?" Junwei asked.

"Mr. Wang has gone outside for urgent work, Sir," Miss Qin answered.

"I am leaving. If he returns, tell him that I have already approved the draft," Junwei said. Miss Qin nodded at him while Junwei and Alex left the office.

Junwei got into his car and wore the seatbelt. He drove out of the parking lot and reached the restaurant in time.

On the 3rd floor of the luxurious restaurant, Junwei's family was waiting for him. He smiled upon seeing his mother and grandfather. They had reached the restaurant five minutes ago. Junwei thanked the staff employee who showed him the table.

As Junwei took his seat, he wondered why there was a fourth chair.

"Father, I told you that Junwei would come to dine with us," Katie said and smiled at Junwei.

"I am glad that Junwei didn't ignore my request," Ziyang said.

"Grandpa, I am not a bad son. I understand that you both have returned after such a long time, so I must dine with you both," Junwei stated and the waiter came to them as Junwei had already raised his hand slightly.

"Good evening, Sir. Here's the menu," the waiter said and Junwei took it from him.

"Wait for a few minutes," Ziyang told his grandson.

"Why?" Junwei asked.

"One more person is on the way," Ziyang said.

"Who?" Junwei looked confused.

"Your friend," Ziyang replied.

Junwei was astonished. Was Alex joining them? Why didn't Alex tell him earlier? Junwei wondered. He asked the waiter if he would give the order in a few minutes.

"Alex didn't tell me that Grandpa has invited him as well," Junwei said as he took out his phone. He placed it on the table and waited for his grandfather's response.

"It is not Alex," Ziyang replied.

"Sorry?" Junwei was bewildered to hear the answer. "Then, who is coming? I have no friends except Alex," Junwei replied and looked at his mother.

"You ask so many questions," Ziyang said. "You definitely have a friend other than Alex," he asserted.

"I don't remember anyone," Junwei stated.

"Wait for a few minutes. Your friend will be here soon," Ziyang said and looked towards the entrance.

A wide smile formed on his lips as he watched Sophie walking in. Junwei noticed the delighted expression on his grandfather's and mother's faces and tilted his head to look.

He was shocked to see Sophie and he rose to his feet.

She stopped next to Junwei, who continued to stare at her. She greeted his grandfather and mother before turning to look at Junwei. She lifted her hand and said 'hello' to him.

Katie looked at her son and wondered if he would stay with them or leave.
