A whole continent was suspended upside down and slowly moving above their heads, its immense and bleak shadow enough to cover four-fifths of the horizon. The oppressive force of this scene was astonishing—so much so that even Duncan felt a suffocating sensation at that moment and couldn't help but want to look away.
But he forcibly controlled the impulse to divert his gaze, instead forcing himself to look up and more closely observe that suspended fragment of a celestial body.
He didn't know what was going on here, didn't know how he had come to be here, nor did he know how to get back—but precisely because of this, he needed to observe every suspicious sight and gather any information that might be useful.
Was that upside-down celestial remnant... actually there? Or was it simply a terrifying illusion? Was it the remains of a world after being torn asunder, or merely an object projected by the twisted space in Subspace?
