Chapter 41 Marching armies

Crack, step*

The great fields of Roxan covered the vast land of the west, inducing much greed for those who desire wealth. Green lashes of steppe and blowing winds of the forest hid something deep inside their veins, yet no one dared to venture into those fields even though the industry was taking over.

The great snake of smoke was afraid of the tree that was overlooking all living beings, hiding its greatest children under its shade. Flame spits of the smoke were terrible, but in front of the great nature, all living beings bow down whether they are Gods or not.

Swoosh*

The running figures of the slender human-like creatures could be seen in these woods, but no monsters or demons were able to feel them. They were like shadows, going silent and deadly while showing no mercy on their path. However, this race was merciful and kind before the expansion of the kingdom.

They offered their hands to the weak, and fed the starving creatures with their fruits. All of that was changed when the army of Roxan dared to hurt their mother. They took up their bows, hunted down the bravest warriors in the enemy line, and hung their heads above the trees. Their rage caused a long-lasting feud between the armies of Roxan and the western continent long-eared elves aka Light Elves.

The lone elf sharpened her knife while looking at the horizon with cold eyes. As a hunter, she never showed mercy to her prey and prayed for their afterlife except for one creature and that was a human. She detested those creatures due to their greedy nature. They ransack and kill living things for their fun and wealth, destroying everything in their ways.

Hence, she hated them. They were low lives that would lick their boots for their mercy, yet when elves show weakness they don't hesitate to capture them. Elves had the highest magic aptitude among the living races, their bodies and magics were extremely valuable to the mages and alchemists who desire knowledge about life and magic.

Dragons, faeries, spirits, Fallen, demons, and gods were too powerful enough to kill them and undead were able to corrupt living creatures, thus they chose only one race. That was elves and not only that they desired their land because they were fertile and close to the borders of the different countries.

" How is the day, Kaesthia? Any new news?"

Another young female elf approached her while sitting next to her. She had straight green hair and a beautiful face except for one thing. There was a huge scar on her neck, crossed with marks of stitches that looked awful, unlike her face.

" Nothing new, captain Luemus. I saw a few spiritual beasts around the vicinity, but there are no humans."

She replied while chugging her water with a sharp look. Her ears were moving like antennas and she was constantly scanning around the border.

" I see. I heard the new king is more rational than the former old bag. I wonder what would they do for our forest. Although I hate humans, their technology is something worth being wary of since it almost killed me."

She said, touching her neck with helplessness because this was a mistake of her youth. She never imagined humans would create a machine that would self-destruct in the first place and her curiosity almost killed her in the end.

" I understand, captain. By the way, I heard Erkos found the trails of the northern barbarians inside the forest. Has he found them yet?"

She asked, showing her interest in the matters of the northern races. There was no reason for northern races to approach this land because they were used to the north's cold frigate climate and there were no forests in their territory except for the great forest of the frozen where the monsters were rampant. Only races like Frozen trolls dared to live in that forest.

" I don't know. The Mayor ordered the guards to find the intruders, but they seemed to be more skilled than we thought."

Luemes shook her head, believing it was a matter of time before they found them. The elves were undefeated in the forest despite their racial differences. They were hunters that can catch a little squirming worm in the night.
