The Thankful, Nivritti

Jae-Hwa kept her eyes on Nivritti while she kept talking to her family back in India. She was smiling and laughing and talking loudly at times. For a week, she was in pain and the smile now on her face made Jae-Hwa smile.

"Hey! My tests are going on and then I have assignments. My mind is preoccupied with everything. I cannot think about your favourite daughter," complained Apeksha while staring at her mother.

"When are your exams?" asked Nivritti.

"Date has not been announced yet, but maybe in a month," replied Apeksha.

"Are you alright, Ritti?" asked Sheela.

"Yes, Mom, I am fine," lied Nivritti.

"Really?" emphasised Sheela.

"Please don't start with mother's instinct. I am absolutely okay," said Nivritti.

"And how are your friends?" asked Sheela.

"Yeah, did they give you anything else," Apeksha rolled her eyes with jealousy.
