Dark Demon Market

The demon race were far less restrained than what humans were and were more prone to throwing away things like shame and maintaining their image.

It caused fights to break out due the the smallest of reasons and those fight could become very brutal.

The various tactics used in combat were witnessed by Blush as she was leaving and they would do anything shameful to win even if it meant resorting to using more numbers to overwhelm a weaker opponent.

The crowds around did not stop the fights and only cheered them on enthusiastically which showed that such battles were regular and were something that brought them entertainment.

Each encounter seemed like a kind of typical event found in novels where the hero would safe those who were suffering from injustice and wished to save the innocent who were in danger.

The hero would then save the person that had suffered and would make an enemy of a person with a powerful backer which would spark an event for them being attacked and assassinated until the hero went through various experiences and power ups to defeat those who targeted them.

Blush did not consider herself a hero and did not wish to encounter such a thing when she was trying to lie low within the Demon Realm.

Making lots of enemies would only cause her to have to make more of an effort to survive and her magic power would be used up the more she used her mana skin to protect herself from the miasma and the attacks of others.

If she was forced to use spells then that would only expose her to the demons and would deplete her magic power much faster.

Avoiding a couple of death flags had lead her to another event spot which made her suspicious.

Usually important materials or items would attract the hero but there would be a conflict with someone else that needed it too which would cause a bidding war and then later conflicts unless the hero could help that person out with their own skills without the item that they needed.

She hesitated a little while then asked the vendor which had concealed their appearance. "What are you willing to trade for that thing?'

There was a set of books with different markings on them which had caught her interest but there was another thing that had caught her interest more.

She did not make it too obvious but Blush had believed that the person opposite her was a dark mage so there would be some useful or interesting things within the stall.

Even if they were not a mage, their family line may have had one and had left those things behind.

The item that had taken her interest was shaped like a lantern which had a tiny flame within it.

The flame was dark red with hints of black within and was only a small amount that continued to remain lit within the lantern.

The vendor pondered and looked a little unsure how to proceed with the sale so Blush took the lead and started to place several stacks of dark beasts meat and skins on the table one after another. "Is this enough? No? How about this?"

The vendor showed surprise for a moment as they examined the animal skins of the dark beasts. "You hunted these?"

The vendor recognised the animals and was surprised that someone with the build of Blush could defeat some of them on her own.

They were just asking casually due to their interest towards her and that someone like her could survive in the dark forest where there had been demons and ogres that had died.

Blush nodded and asked again. "Is it enough?"

Her tone was slightly impatient since the other party was probably going to ask more questions and would dig into her information that she did not wish to reveal.

The vendor caught on quickly when they listened to the tone of Blush then thought to themselves. 'This much can help us survive longer and will help to sell them onto others if the need arises to earn more but I cannot back down so easily. These are what father left behind before he disappeared, I cannot just let them go so easily.'

He continued to raise the price until Blush had shown her unwillingness to increase the amount that she was willing to trade.

Blush looked very unwilling to raise any higher and expressed it well then looked like she had given in. "Agreed but I will take those two books too if you want me to trade for so much that I have risked my life to hunt."

The vendor looked quite desperate as they hesitated to agree or not so when Blush had moved her hand to take back the cheap containers filled with meat and the animal skins, they spoke up in a hurry. "I accept."

Blush reached over and picked up the two books and the lantern before storing them into her gourd then walked away.

The vendor was packing their things and took one final look towards the back of Blush who was leaving. 'They must be a mage just like father was but I doubt that they will be able to understand my father's books.'

The vendor whistled towards the distance and a group of people who were also concealing their appearance had joined him to help carry the cheap containers away as they went home.

A couple of people nearby had seen the exchange and had ignored what had happened but were more interested in Blush who was pulling out things from a gourd and could store other things which suggested that she was a mage or she was close to a mage.

Even if they were impulsive, they would not start anything with Blush so suddenly when they had heard that she had taken down some of the bigger beasts in the forest on her own.

Unfortunately luck was not on the side of Blush who had walked away as there was someone that had followed behind her and kept a watchful eye on her from a distance.

Blush had far sharper senses and mental capabilities which could detect the slightest change around her so she put it to use then stepped into an unoccupied and secluded area.

Another figure had followed behind and entered shortly afterwards but they found no trace of her as if she had disappeared.

They began to feel lightheaded all of a sudden after entering and looking around the area then they had found something strange that had been placed in a hidden location.

It was much too late for them to do anything due to their consciousness fading as they fell asleep.

A small pink mouse ran out and transformed into her original appearance once again while chewing on a leaf.
