Chapter 63 - They only fear death

Whoever was running this bunker really didn't care about us and since we didn't meet anyone until we reached the room where all the grounders were being, we had a relatively relaxed walk there. When we reached the chamber, the grounders run past Byrne and her men before quickly helping the few grounders that were being held prisoners for who knows how many weeks or months. Most of the grounders seemed to have left the place already, which was quite strange especially since Bellamy said that they were going to wait here.

The moment Indra saw the inhuman way her people were treated by those people, she grabbed her sword and almost killed one of the guys that Bellamy and I captured. Thankfully, before she could kill the man, Octavia stopped her.

"No, Indra! We can't kill them, not like this."

"Get out of my way, sky girl, or I swear on my life that I'll kill you too."

"Then you'll have to kill me."

For a second we thought that Indra would cut Octavia, but thankfully, after glancing at the stubborn girl, she just turned around and went to help her people.

Both her brother and her lover walked to her while the rest of us continue making our way toward the next floor where I hope our friends were being held hostage by the mountain men.

Just as were about to leave I noticed the missiles that were still in the bunker and as soon as Raven noticed that I stop she turned and looked at them as well.

"Oh my god... I wouldn't have ever imagined that they had so many missiles ready to be used. "

"Believe it or not, those are even working, after all why would have they used this silo as a room to keep prisoners if they had working missiles here? But you are right, they still have a few missiles in the other silo."

Rather than looking at the obsolete missiles, I was looking at the rows of cages that were hanging everywhere. From how big some of the cages looked, some of them could hold at least five people maybe even more if you really don't care about them, and seeing the way those few grounders that were left behind looked, I'm pretty sure that Mt. Weather hadn't treated them like some VIPs by any means.

Suddenly we heard Lexa's voice being broadcast from what I hope was a radio that belongs to our side.

"My people that are still inside, I have made a deal with Mt. Weather, they had freed our brothers and sister in exchange for leaving them alone. We are going back, let the sky people fight their war alone."

That bitch backstabbed us, but then again, this "peace", as well as the "alliance", was just a pretext in the first place. No matter what we did or said, the grounders wouldn't have trusted us, and neither would we.

Indra glanced at Octavia for a second before she ordered her people to take the grounders that were prisoners before leaving with her people.

Yet, it didn't matter anymore. We are in the bunker and now, we would be able to easily save our friends.

Byrne quickly issued orders for her guards before we venture deeper into the bunker using Clarke's map, as a guide. Sadly, what seemed to be an empty floor was instead a trap. The mountain men transformed the fifth level into an ambush for us. Bullets rained upon us, killing two guards that were in the front followed by sleeping grenades. Finn and Lincoln threw the grenades back at the mountain men, prompting them to charge us, for some reason.

Nevertheless, as soon as the first one was in striking distance, I rushed him, nailing the man on the floor as the rest of the guards as well as my friends took care of the other six soldiers that were behind the man.

After taking care of these soldiers we searched the whole floor without finding anyone from the dropship, and neither did we found the people that were supposed to live in this bunker, meaning that they were most likely on another floor, one that has a separate power system.

"There's no one on this level, mam."

"Thank you, Sergeant Miller. Leo, Bellamy you two have been in this place the longest, does this shithole as a control room?"

"Yes, there's one under this floor, that's the place from where they see us as well as the place that gives them control over the missiles."

Hearing that there is such a room, Byrne took the lead and we soon descend to the fourth floor. It didn't take us long to reach the room and while we encounter some resistance, it was nothing too major that would have stopped us from achieving our goal.

As soon as the door was opened, the people that were inside surrendered without even hesitating, after all, it was better to surrender and live than to die pointlessly against a better-equipped enemy. With the floor cleared of any threats. Byrne had the guards, guard the command center while Raven did her magic.

A few minutes later, Clarke followed by Monroe as well as some guards entered the command center, before sitting on one of the empty chairs. Finn went to her while Monroe walked towards me.

"Hey, glad to see you are all right. Bellamy's words made us all fear the worst. So, what's the plan?" Zoe was struggling to keep her worry hidden, especially after the betrayal of the grounder army.

"We don't really have a plan, other than taking our friends from these people."

Suddenly, Clarke walked past us and stood beside Raven.

"The plan is to do everything we can, no matter how many have to die. That's the only way we can save our friends."

Finn, who remained behind argued with what his lover had just said, after all, whether we like it or not, some people helped our friends, besides not all of the people were monsters like the ones that served directly under their so-called president.

"Clarke, we can't kill everyone. There are people in there that have helped our friends, they hide them, and keep them safe from bad people. There are even children down there that are innocent! We are better than them, we shouldn't be killing children."

"I didn't say we go in there and slaughter everyone as if we were grounders. What I said was that we go in there and do what it takes to save our friends. If these people decided to throw everything against us, then we will kill them all, but be my guest if anyone has a better plan, I'm listening."

Seeing that the situation had degraded to such a low standard, I decided to intervene, despite not wanting to create even more discord between us, even more so now that we are about to face the mountain men.

"Clarke…"

"What!"

"I feel the same way you do, but killing these innocent people isn't the right answer. I know that you will argue, but please, for the safety of our friends, I want you, Finn, Bellamy, and Raven to remain here. The rest of us will try to negotiate with whatever remained out of the leadership of this place."

While Byrne, Monroe, the guards, and I walked to the next floor, Clarke and Finn went to the only room that we didn't know existed. As soon as they reached that room, they found themselves being held at gunpoint by a soldier while listening to an old man, who was lying in the bed, preaching some bullshit that brainwashed Jasper.

"Hello, Clarke, Finn." The old man froze when he saw Clarke and Bellamy, but he still decided to remain polite. Especially after he heard that not all of the people that encounter the Sky people were killed, in fact besides the five soldiers that I and Bellamy captured, Byrne and the guards captured another batch of seven, who surrendered when they saw that they didn't have a chance. Not to mention that it was better to be a prisoner than to be killed. Before the soldier who had his gun pointed at Monty could react, Finn grabbed the man from behind while Monty quickly took the gun that has in the soldier's hand before aiming it at the man.

"Sir, we need your help again, your son has gone mad." Clarke began, not even trying to sweeten the deal for her side, after all, there wasn't that much time left and every second was critical. After she said that, Clarke turned towards Monty, hoping that he disabled the cameras that were in the room.

"Don't worry. I took out the cameras before they caught me. We can talk freely."

"No one's watching anyway. Thanks to your people, they're all on Level Five."

"You're not, sir."

"No. I'm not. My son deemed me a liability for his dream, so I was left behind alongside most of the guards, your people captured."

"Please," Clarke begged again, brushing past Finn and Monty, approaching the old man, who until now was still adamant to refuse her. "We don't have much time. We need a way to get our people out of this mountain without killing everyone. You are our only chance, sir!"

"I…"
