A shot in the dark

Cass's pov

"Huh?" I flinched at the sight of Beomgyu staring at me from the cabin's entrance because I initially thought he was a different person and due to the series of events that have happened lately, I've became jumpy.

Good thing my gun was too far for me to reach or else I might've ruined our vacation by pointing the weapon against him.

"H-Hi." I had to greet enthusiastically even though the whole atmosphere is super heavy. "I thought you were upstairs."

"Uh yeah."

He looked away and I quickly covered my half naked body with a fluffy white towel.

The lower half of the dress was so heavy and wide from the countless layers of lace so I had to take it off outside the cramped bathroom or else it might get stuck on something and get ruined.

Afterwards I stepped in the bathroom to take a shower which might've taken way longer than normal since my mind was filled by a lot of things.

The one that stood out the most was what Beomgyu's mom and I have talked about at the reception.

"Do you like babies Cassandra?" She asked while I was waving some of the guests goodbye at the two-door entrance.

"No." I answered truthfully. "I sometimes pretend as a baby sitter when I gather information on my target so having emotional connections with the family members will only cause problems."

"I understand but I'm asking is you as a person." She smiled softly. "What if you end up pregnant? Will you hate it or not?"

I was caught off guard but I feel like it's not that bad since it's with Beomgyu. However, it's not practical either.

"Honestly speaking, I would prefer having no offspring due to the nature of my job, not because I don't like children."

"Sad that I won't be able to play with my grandchildren but I understand where you're coming from." She smiled bitterly and I felt bad about it.

However, I don't think I'm ready to be a mother.

I understand that they need an heir. So if there's a probability of me ever getting pregnant, I promise that I'll do my best to protect the child with my life.

Beomgyu's very fond of children so I'm pretty sure he'll be a good father if we ever get to have children. But at least not for now.

"If… that happens you can rest assured that I will try to accept them wholeheartedly rather than take their life just because I wasn't ready."

"Good to hear." Her ear to ear smile brightened up the slightly dimmed area. I'm glad that my attempt to reach a consensus was successful.

She had been so nice to us and I'm totally grateful that she supported the wedding even though our family's intention is quite obvious.

"Hey."

I choked at the warm, running water against my face and coughed hard while holding onto the tiled wall when I heard a male voice calling from behind.

Beomgyu's warm hand quickly caressed my bare back and a rush of electricity ran over my skin like a lightning striking from above.

I flinched in surprise and got Beomgyu's fully clothed body drenched from accidentally pointing the shower head towards his face and neck.

"S-sorry. I'm so sorry." He kept apologizing as he loosened his black bow tie and I still kept coughing, like I'm dying.

He raised his hands and suddenly ran out. He must be so embarrassed to cause me such suffering so I thought I should talk to him as soon as I finish my bath.

I did everything as fast as possible and wrapped a big towel around my body before leaving. I didn't even blew my hair dry first since it's gonna take a lot of time.

Beomgyu was sitting on the bed facing the wall so I had to call his attention.

"H-hey…" My hoarse voice barely made it out but he somehow heard it.

"Oh. Uh." He briefly looked at me and glued his eyes on the silky white bedsheets. "I'm sorry I thought something happened to you because it's been over an hour."

"Really?" I can't believe time flew this fast while I was daydreaming random things. "Sorry I made you wait this long."

I approached him because my suitcase was placed right underneath him. I got startled when he suddenly stood up at the same moment I leaned forward to reach it.

"I-I need some air…" he spoke softly but it sounded more restrained than normal.

"Okay…" I stood straight back up to give way but my towel loosened on it's own and fell over my feet.

I immediately picked it up and wrap around my imperfections but Beomgyu already left the room like he had seen a ghost.

I was about to call him back when I caught a glimpse of him by the clear glass walls throwing up at the deck.
