FAMILY REGRETS

NARRATOR'S POV

Massimo sat down in the carriage the king had provided for them. It was a luxurious one that glided down the cobblestones smoothly. The inside was velvet and the entire seat was made of soft cushions which made their seating very comfortable. The wooden wheels of the carriage glided smoothly on the cobblestones which made the journey even more easier for them. Massimo could sense the excitement coming from the rest of the family at being considered important enough to be given a carriage from the king. 

Everyone was excited except for one. Massimo sat lost in thought, his mind drifting back to the time he had visited his daughter. It had been years since they had seen each other, and the memory of her tear-streaked face as she was taken away still haunted him.
