She tended to escape reality with music. She'd put on old rock music, especially the one that she loved from Shrek and that would be on repeat as she got ready the entire morning. It made her feel like her whole life was a music video. She'd get dressed, fold her cheerleading uniform into a separate bag and then skip to her pink convertible. Yeah. Living that Barbie life.
She'd drive to school, ignoring the notification alerts from her phone the entire time. When she arrived people would always stop to stare like they hadn't seen her before. It was okay. Added to the music video effect. She'd flip her hair as she closed her door and make her way into the building. Nobody would get in her way the entire time she walked to her locker. And just as she opened it, reality would fade in like it did every time.
Then she'd hear the chatter from her 'friends' as they approached. Complaining about how she never read the texts they sent.
