Ch 177: A Rebellious Rose

Altogether, they left the room and everything they shared ran together in my thoughts. A part of me was still in disbelief that I'm pregnant but yet my subconscience said it was true. Then my heart crumbled to dust whenever I thought about Orlando. He must be so worried about me. Since I lost my purse at courthouse, I didn't have my phone anymore to call him. Which made me cry further.

More hours passed when I cried to the point that I had no tears left. So I read a pregnancy magazine to bypass my boredom. Soon the night crept in and I passed out from lack of sleep.

Dawn came early like any other day. I got showered and dressed. Afterward, I found a warm breakfast on the trolley that someone left for me. Once I was done eating the door opened again and I stood up from the couch to see Rose walk in.

"Come on, Victoria, let's get you out of this room. I wanna show you something." She said with a feeble smile.

If I haven't been locked away. I probably wouldn't have gone but seeing how I was a prisoner in my bedroom. Yeah, you believe I walked out that door with her.

As we sauntered about, I noticed the mansion was fuller of people... I mean vampires and vampiresses? There were more children and teenagers. Most of the new faces and the faces I saw at the wedding, I could plainly see their red eyes and fangs showcasing. More so with the teenagers while they were goofing off and wrestling each other.

"Why is the mansion more packed compared to before?" I asked Rose as we roamed from room to room and corridors.

"Now that you know the truth about our existence. Some of the families are moving back in," Rose told me.

"I see..." I said, feeling as if I was living in the Addams family mansion or better yet maybe it's more accurate to say it was like Dracula's castle.

On any other day, I'd probably be thrilled but considering how this all came about. I felt more on the groggy side today.

"Be alert with the little ones. Sometimes they can't always control their thirst for blood," Rose randomly informed me and it naturally flowed off her tongue. Meanwhile, I gulped this non-existent nervous lump down my throat. I hoped she didn't hear me but the way she crossed her emerald eyes aside at me with a grin told me otherwise.

"Don't worry, Victoria," Rose giggled amused. "The adults are always on alert so they don't try to feed on the humans that will be turned."

I wanted to faint but then we turned off into this office that I have never been in. So for the time being it took my interest. Especially, when she went behind the desk and pulled open this large painting of a nineteen-year-old girl on the wall that looked so much like me. The girl that looked like me in the painting was wearing a black Gothic-style Victorian style gown that was very much to my taste.

Behind the large framed painting was this very old wall vault. She turned the combination and opened up the metal door. Then I saw tons of items inside.

"This is Kai's office so don't tell him I showed you any of this," Rose confided when she picked up a laptop.

"Is that mine?" I questioned, puzzlingly since I witnessed him break it in half.

"Yes, Kai, wouldn't purposely destroy anything that you cherish," Rose said sadly. "He knows those pictures from Egypt were important to you."

"Then why did he act as if he broke it?" I asked, crossing my arms.

Rose sighed, "because he's hurt so he's trying to hurt you at times so you know how he feels. Sometimes vampires aren't much different than stupid men. Personally, I assume it's a male aspect because they share that testosterone."

"Yeah, it must be," I said as she closed everything up, including the painting.

Then I asked, enchanted by it. "Why does that painting look like me?"

"Because it is you," Rose revealed. "Kai dreamt about you long before your birth. Unfortunately, finding you was the more tricky part."

"How old is Kai?" I asked quite seriously.

And Rose knowingly smiled, "you'll have to ask him. Unfortunately, I can only share so much with you."

I asked two bombs of questions. "Then can I ask why you let me out? And How did you know the combination to the vault?"

"Oh, I'm rebellious," Rose giggled. "Kai knows that about me and the combination is the date of the first dream he had about you."

"I can't believe this is happening," I whispered and felt faint again to hear her reply. I wasn't anticipating that to be my answer.

"And I can't believe you're breaking rules without me!" I turned around and saw Rome appear out of nowhere at the front of the desk. He had his legs crossed up on the desk and leaned back on the chair. While shaking a bag of chips into his wide-open mouth.

"Shut up, Rome," Rose mouthed him off with a grin. "You and I both know Kai is being a moron again."

Once Rome chewed down a mouth full of chips, he said, "he wants her in the room resting."

"Her screaming at the door isn't helping her," Rose rolled her eyes. "He's only putting more stress on the baby and her."

Of course, hearing all this again makes my knees feel shaky. I had to take a seat behind the desk across from Rome as he smiled at me like a goofball.

"A trash can is next to you if you're going to puke," he chuckled to tell me.

"I'm not going to puke, I only feel dizzy," I said somewhat panting.

"Well, as soon as you can stand. We need to leave before Kai catches us here," Rose notified and I kinda nodded.

It was probably best that we leave soon.

"What are you all doing in my office?" Right at the doorway, Kai talked sharply and his red eyes narrowed at us. More so narrowed at Rose like he already knew. Talk about getting busted at the wrong time. I mean he wasn't there a second ago.
