Life Goes On

Lira awoke early the next day, as she usually does. She was going to work much harder on creating her energy channels once she had gained World Energy. The process would be lengthy but extremely beneficial.

Lira's body had channels, but no energy could pass through them. She would widen the channels with word energy, allowing her to use other energies more efficiently.

This word hopefully give her more control over it. As a result, Lira began her numerous tests that morning.

Lira began experimenting with world energy, and it was just that. World Energy was all around her, and she could feel it in large quantities. Her body naturally generated it in the same way that it created Aether.

Her body had two energy pools, but her Aether pool was significantly larger. World Energy could also be used to fortify her body, but Aether was more effective.

But Lira had no idea what to do with it outside of her body; she needed something to mix it with. Unfortunately, she had no idea what it was. So that was out until she could get more information. It was the polar opposite for Aether.

She felt a connection to the things around her when she used it. So she attempted to use it to control the air. Lira opened her eyes and exhaled deeply.

'All right, how should I go about this?' Ai is the most secure option. Because she was all wrapped up, she couldn't really raise her arms. Lira focused all of her attention on it.

"Ha!"

...

Nothing. Now she feels like a Nothing. She now feels foolish. She tried, but she couldn't hide her face in shame. 'Another time.' She did it several times over the course of several hours.

But it wasn't working, and it was quite confusing. She attempted, but nothing happened.

'This is nonsense, should I combine it with world energy... Wait?' When she looked up, she noticed one of the floating lights circling her due to a small whirlwind. 'H-Huh!'

She blinked when she say the light stop after a few seconds of spinning. 'I-It work? It worked! Yeah bitches, I'm so amazing! Bow before my greatness!' Lira was beyond overjoyed. On the outside, it just looked like a baby giggling and waling around in her crib.

Although she may of looked like a fool at the start, at least she didn't in the end. Lira groaned having only just noticed that quite a bit of her Aether had been belated.

She used her last bit of Aether to make another busy or wind, but this time towards her. Her smile further grew when she felt it a second later.

'Yup. So it can control all the elements, or this could be one of those times where it's all up to affinities. For all I know I can only control air, but I don't it. Aether seems to be connected to almost everything, so I'm very interested to see just how much I can do with it. But for now, sleep. God I'm so tired, why is it just now setting it?'

Little did Lira know, her little experiments took days. Her body was mostly on autopilot, the time just blended together for her. Just like that, months passed with the girl doing nothing but training.

She was somewhat able to learn their language but there were still a few words she didn't know. The only real interactions she has had with anyone is Marry, the few other people she saw didn't speak much.

So there were times when she would have to stop train, and act like a baby to get Marry to say things. Lira had realized that maybe Marry was really a nice person and not just faking it, plus, why would she fake being nice to a baby.

Lira cursed herself for getting attached to the woman, she didn't want that. Although it was nice to be loved, she didn't want to get hurt. The moment she found out that she was inside of a lab she knew she couldn't live a normal life.

And she never really wanted to. She sighed many times and spent hours thinking of her situation. She was in a lab, yes, but that wasn't the worst part. That goes to the fact that she will become a test subject.

They are quite literally going to change her very being. At the lab they take the blood of other races and use it to change the children into hybrids. This has many side effects to it, many of them bad and very few good.

One and was the survival rate. She didn't know how they did it, but if they survive, the children will be sent into the forest. It's engraved into their minds from young that they are only alive to follow orders.

The forest was very vast and not even half of it was explored yet. Lira knows she is a picky person, but goddamn! These guys are stupid. Sending children into a forest to kill monsters, of course they are going to die.

What did they expect. But that wasn't the real goal, all they wanted was to make powerful soldiers. The forest was just a secondary thing since the only thing about it is that it's very big. The monsters are weak and there is almost nothing of real value.

Because Lira knew she needed to appear valuable now, she decided it would be best if she said her first words when she was almost five months old. She had referred to Marry as "Mama" because she was the only parental figure in her life.

Marry's reaction was hilarious. She'd remember it for the rest of her life. She also discovered that everyone possesses World Energy, and she discovered what it is used for.

Abilities, not magic but abilities. Everyone is born with one, she's not sure if they can be born with more. But once you use World Energy you are able to use your ability, like mana with magic.

This means that Aether was hers or at least not common. She found this out when she overheard Marry talking about them with another woman.

They would only gain their ability at five. Unfortunately for Lira, she has wet to witness any of these abilities in play. She had only heard about them.

Lire wondered if it was possible to be born with multiple abilities, and are they genetic or simply random.

They could also be based on a person's personality as well, she wasn't sure.

'This is getting kinda boring. I wish I could at least see outside, unfortunately they wouldn't let that happen. I also can't practice using fire magic, air I can use all the time.'

Lira had tried to use water magic to manipulate the molecules in the air, she was somewhat able to lower the temperature but not by much and for a very short amount of time.

Her energy channels were able to carry Aether properly now but not that efficient. So she has never stopped 'training' them. Lira wanted something, anything to do.

Even some toys would do, but she has yet to even be put on the floor. She had seen a lot of the other kids be taken to some play room while she could only lay of Marry's lap and watch with slight envy.

She was the youngest out of all the kids in her group. Lira doubted they would teach her to read or write yet, she'll probably have to learn it with the other kids.

However, when Lira was eleven months old, Marry had do the most magical thing for her. Marry had finally, allowed Lira to explore, not on her own of course. Marry and Lira were alone in a colorful room filled with toys.

It was even so most of the kids were sleeping, Marry had some free time so she decided to take Lira to the play room. Marry was well aware that Lira is a very curious girl. Lira was almost three months younger than the children in her group.

Marry thought Lira would be behind but she was probably ahead of a lot of the others. Lira could speak better than quite a few children.

There was one reason Lira didn't venture out, she didn't know if she was being watching her. For all she knew, there was someone with an ability to view rooms without being there, like a camera.

She didn't want to take any chances, that's another reason she didn't experiment with magic much. Other things she did she tried to be discreet.

Lira sat on the floor looking around. 'I take it back, put me back in my crib, at least I had something to do there. This room hurts my damn eyes.' Lira looked at Marry who stood behind her with a smile.

Marry blinked her golden eyes and frowned, her eyes started glow making Lira flinch a bit. Marry nodded, her eyes went back to normal and she walked pass Lira.

"Little Lira, if you are confused, why don't you play with the toys? Or draw a picture."

'The shit!' Lira looked at Marry and blink a few times. 'How did she do that, I know for a fact I hid my emotions. I doubt a nanny such as her can read emotions someone's emotions.' But she was wrong and right at the same time.

She considered it just might be Marry's ability but didn't want to ask. She didn't know if Abilities were to be kept secret or something, or if people just don't like telling other. But Lira really wanted to know, so she was going to use her age to her advantage.

Lira crawled to where Marry stood and pulled on the pants of her while uniform.

"Hm?"

"How wdid mama do twhat?" Lira still had a bit of trouble speaking since she didn't talk to many people and she developed an odd accent, similar to Marry's. Most, if not everyone there possessed the same one.

Lira had a problem pronouncing quite a few words.

Marry looked down at her and smiled. "Well, little Lira, I have an abilities call [Eyes of Emotion], it allows me to see the emotions of others I look at. Cool huh?!" She crouched down and squished Lira's face.

Marry wasn't sure if Lira had any knowledge about abilities, but she knew Lira would learn about them so if she didn't. Lira was very observant about that happens around her, so her having an idea about abilities wasn't to shocking.

To her at least.

Marry also thought Lira was cute miles ahead of the other children, so she pampered her a lot way to cute. Marry considered all of the kids as her own and she treats all of them the same, except Lira. She treats her better even though she didn't really mean to.

Lira eyes widened. "Cool!" She was mostly faking it though, the ability was interesting though, quite useful actually. It made sense why Marry was a nanny, she would know how children are feeling at any given moment.

But it most likely had a few drawbacks. Lira moved over to a wall and took some blocks. She didn't know what to do with them, so she just stacked them to top of each other.

Lira though about using Ari magic but decided not to, she looked to the side and saw Marry paying close attention to her. She wasn't really have fun, so she stop.

"Mama, can you tweach me how to write?" Lire asked.

Marry's face fell an she sighed. "I'm sorry, Little Lira, but I can't. You will be taught with all the other kids soon, okay?"

"Oh, okay." Lira was a bit saddened when she realized she couldn't learn to read or write just yet, and even more so when she was told she would have to learn with the other children.

She doesn't have any option on them, they are just kids. She did know however that they would probably become enemies later on when she realized that this place wasn't all shun shines and rainbows.

Marry knew Lira was a bit sad so she tried to lift her mood a bit. "Would you like a snake, Little Lira?"

"Yes please!" Lira beamed up at the woman. The love of her life, food. She would kill for it, and she probably will. Marry smiled and lifted the girl off the ground.

The entire walk Lira was bobbing her head with one thought. 'Food'. Lira had a love for food that could never be vanquished by anyone. She, unfortunately, had an innate talent at being shit at cooking though.

But that was on Earth, maybe she'll be better here. Probably not, but she can hope.
