Realizing he needed to find another way to reach the second floor, Alex circled around the house as quietly as possible, making sure to duck under all the windows he passed on the way.
'Alright, this seems to be the only option.' Alex thought while looking at a plastic dustbin that was just under chest height. He had wheeled this dustbin, quietly, from the back of the house to the front, where he would be able to climb onto the garage roof.
The garage stuck out the side of the house, and therefore had nothing above it, making it the perfect way to get to the second floor since the windows nearby would be easy to reach.
'There's a chance the lid might break under my weight but it's a small chance since I'm practically skin and bones.' Alex was about to start climbing when he realized a potential flaw in his plan.
'I don't think I have the strength to pull myself up... Being all skin and bones seems to be a double edged sword right now. No, there might be a way, I haven't tried it yet but I've been thinking about it. No time like the present...'
Alex climbed onto the dustbin, doing his best to distribute his weight evenly while getting to his feet. The dustbin lid seemed to be holding for now but he didn't want to push his luck.
He placed his hands on the now chest high roof and jumped as hard as he thought he could without breaking the dustbin, which did make a cracking sound but luckily didn't fall over or cave beneath him.
Alex's body began moving up but he already knew he didn't have the strength to climb up, he could just feel it. That's when he used his telekinesis to give himself a little push from below, like doing a pull up with resistance bands.
Thanks to the extra push from his telekinesis, Alex climbed onto the roof without issue, even doing a little roll because he went up a bit faster than expected.
'I might not be able to lift a person but I can still give a decent push to one, including myself. I'm glad I finally got the chance to try the ability on myself, every time I think about it I'm somewhere I can't test it, then I forget when I do have the chance...' Alex shook his head at his own forgetfulness and walked towards the main part of the building.
There was a window that led onto the roof of the garage right in front of him but it was currently latched shut. This wasn't a problem though, as a quick flick of the wrist sent a telekinetic force to move the latch and allow the window to open.
Taking care not to repeat the incident at Oscars apartment, Alex carefully climbed through the window into the house. Once inside, he noticed that apart from a single room, all the doors were standing wide open.
'The closed door has to be the bedroom right?' While this seemed like the obvious choice, Alex still checked every other room first just to be sure. One room was a study, the other was a bathroom and the last was a spare bedroom, all of which were empty.
With his objective clear, Alex made his way to the closed door and placed his ear against it, trying to see if there was any noise coming from within, of which there was none.
He slowly twisted the door handle, silently cursing the squeaky crunching sound it made, and opened the door. The room was dark but his eyes had adjusted enough to make out the single person sleeping in the large bed. Luckily, the noise from the door opening wasn't enough to wake the sleeping man.
Alex crept up to the bed, thankful for the fact that his house didn't have wooden floors, and stopped on the side the man was sleeping. Alex could tell, even in the low light, that this was definitely his target.
Now that there was no doubt in his mind, Alex pulled out out of his newly acquired knife and held it with a tight grip. He aimed the point of the blade at the mans neck and got ready to place his hand on the mans forehead to keep his head from moving too much.
In one swift motion the knife came down, as did the hand on the forehead, and pierced the throat with a spurt of blood pouring out. The mans eyes quickly opened, surprise and fear evident behind them.
He tried to reach up and grab Alex but found that his arms lacked strength. He was sound asleep a moment ago and now he was fighting for his life, his body was still half asleep and the sudden adrenaline rush made his body burn oxygen that much faster.
After a futile attempt to wrestle Alex off of him, the man dropped his arms, with one of them falling over the side of the bed, knocking everything off his bedside table in the process.
Alex saw this happen but was too slow to do anything about it, if we was faster then maybe he could have used telekinesis to catch some of the objects, such as the glass of water.
<Crash>
The glass shattered as it hit the floor, likely alerting everyone in the house to a potential issue. At the very least, someone would come up to make sure everything was alright and Alex knew this.
He pulled the knife out of the mans throat and stabbed him in the chest, roughly where the heart would be, then he did it again and again. Not wanting to waste any more time or take any more chances, Alex stabbed this man in the chest 7 times just to ensure he hit the heart, or at the very least, made his death a certainty.
[Absorbing Life Force]
[Level Up]
Alex was relieved to see the systems message but that relief vanished when someone came barging into the room shouting.
"Is everything alright, Sir!?" It was just one guard but Alex knew he would call for his colleagues soon enough.
'Shit!'
Without giving the guard a moment to analyze the situation, let alone react to it, Alex took some drastic steps and sprinted across the room at full speed before diving through a closed window with a crash.
