Vietnam (The Cotati II) Part 12

Looking at the frightened priest, to calm him down I say:

"Easy buddy, with this I will help you find your soulmate"

The priest gets furious hearing my words.

"Bastard, get this priest out of here" the defenseless priest said, due to his injuries he couldn't get up and run away.

"Then tell her the truth and I'll get you out of there" I replied indifferently.

The priest remains silent, hesitating whether to say it or not.

"Don't worry too much, you won't be alone in this. Your fellow priests will follow your same fate"

With a sinister smile I look at the men on the ground and continue saying:

"After all, these men don't have the same willpower as you"

The priest's face changes.

The other wounded priests on the ground turn pale with fear and horror at my words.

When I finish repairing the machine, I turn it on.

"This is your last chance. If you don't speak now, pressing this button will change your fate" I said.

The priest despairs and closes his eyes.

Shrugging, I ignore the man.

When I was going to press the button, one of the wounded priests says:

"Don't do it! The Intruder is right, that machine is used to brainwash people"

The place falls silent.

The head priest reacts and angrily says:

"Idiot, what is the priest saying?"

"This priest is sorry sir, but this one doesn't want the intruder to play with his mind" the priest said.

"Don't blame him, can't you see he just saved you?" I said with a friendly smile.

"Damn…"

"Then the head priest wanted to manipulate Mantis and only took care of her for the priest's benefits?" Mantis asked him.

The head priest tenses and falls silent.

Looking at Mantis, I say:

"Don't worry about it Mantis, now you can choose your path"

Mantis is silent for a few seconds and then says:

"Mantis will go with Alex, she wants to know the outside world and find what she wants to do"

Smiling, I say:

"Then welcome aboard Mantis Brandt"

"Mantis will be in Alex care, Alex Wayne" a smiling Mantis replied.

So, we decided that it was time to go.

When we were about to leave the place, the head priest says:

"The Intruder cannot take Mantis, she has a greater destiny than all"

We all ignore the man and leave the room.

When we went out through the entrance of the temple, a large number of branches cover the entrance as if they had a life of their own.

I frown at this because I know who is causing this: The Cotati.

"Alex, that plant-based race wants to talk to us" Psylocke said as she massaged her temple.

"Then let's see them and find out what they want" I said.

Psylocke nods and leads us to where the Cotati are.
