Betrayal

"Oh right. I forgot to tell you, I and my friends are going camping in the forest tomorrow."

Two boys, around 20 years old, were walking along the road while chatting casually. One was a handsome blonde guy with a fit body, branded clothes, and a cheery smile.

The other guy, however, was diametrically opposite.

He had short brown hair, looked average at best, his body wasn't in a good shape, wore a cheap full-sleeved t-shirt, and almost rusty jeans pants.

He forced out a smile. "That's good. Enjoy yourself, man."

The blonde stared at him in silence, causing him to wince and ask, "What?"

"What do you mean enjoy yourself? You are also coming. And Max, don't you dare make an excuse this time." The blonde said it in a serious tone.

He then put his arm around Max's neck and whispered in a suggestive tone, "Though I doubt you would refuse after hearing that Alison, that hottie, is also coming."

Max's eyes shone when he heard this. But then he smiled wryly and shook his head, "Don't tease me, Jacob."

"I'm serious, man. She is really coming. I personally invited her..." Jacob said, a hidden twinkle in his eyes.

"She is really coming, huh?" Max muttered before shaking his head, "Even so, there is no benefit in going. She obviously has no interest in me. I should just stop thinking about her."

Jacob's smile stiffened when he heard this. He then urged, "Let's give it another chance. Maybe you'll be able to get close to her on this trip."

Despite his better mind saying otherwise, Max agreed, felt a flicker of hope when he heard this, and finally agreed, "Alright. Let's give it one last try. But let me tell you this beforehand. If she doesn't show any interest in talking to me, don't force her, alright?"

Jacob grinned, "Alright."

...

The next morning, Max packed his bag and left his one-bedroom apartment. Unlike Jacob, whose father was a wealthy businessman, his was just an ordinary worker, and since he just had a part-time job, he couldn't afford a better place.

'Hopefully I will get a good job after graduating from college.' He thought.

He was in the last year of his college. Because he didn't want his old man to slave away for the rest of his life, he had been studying hard and had a high chance of getting a placement. This gave him some relief.

'If I had a girlfriend, it would've been better. At least I would no longer be a virgin.' He sighed.

Despite his looks, one or two girls had shown some interest in him, but because they weren't pretty enough for him and he had already developed a crush on Alison—one of the prettiest girls in his college—he ignored them.

It was only after he became friends with Jacob, who coincidentally was Alison's friend, did he realize that he had no chance with Alison and regretted letting those girls go.

While lost in his thought, he arrived at the meeting spot. Several of Jacob's friends had already arrived and were waiting for others. When they saw him, a few snickered in derision, while others just nodded.

Seeing this, he sighed. This was why he usually made an excuse whenever Jacob invited him for partying or trips.

After a while, others also arrived. Jacob, however, was nowhere to be seen, and neither was Alison.

Just as he was thinking that Jacob had lied to him about Alison, a red sports car zoomed in from afar.

"They are finally here." One of Jacob's friends said in annoyance.

The car stopped, doors opened, and out stepped Jacob and... Alison.

Max furrowed his brows when he saw this. After greeting his friends, Jacob came over to him while Alison went to her female friends.

"How come you guys came together?" Max asked.

"Don't ask me, man. I had to pick her up from her home or she wouldn't come. But since I already promised you, I had to bring her, no?" Jacob chuckled. He then clapped and shouted, "Alright, fellows. Let's not waste any more time here and be on our way."

...

A few hours later, they arrived at the camping site. They first pitched the tents and then started wandering around the forest.

When evening came, they built a campfire, sat around it, and while chatting and laughing, they ate and drank.

A few hours passed, and by now, everyone was drunk. The girlfriends were sitting on their boyfriends' laps, making out while the singles like Max were enjoying the chilled bear.

Suddenly, Max noticed Jacob leave the friends he was talking to and head into the forest. His friends made noise and cheered.

'What's going on? What are they cheering him on for, and why is he going into the forest at this time?' He thought. Thought this part of the forest was safe, the authorities had advised everyone to stay within the bounds of the camping sites just in case.

Looking around, he didn't see Alison. Suddenly, a thought crossed his mind.

'Nah, it can't be...' He shook his head, feeling ridiculous for having such thoughts. But a moment later, he frowned and looked around. No one was looking at him.

'There is no harm in seeing what he is up to, right?' Thinking this, he left the camping site and went in the direction Jacob went.

After walking for a hundred meters, the forest had become dark, but thanks to the moonlight, there was still some visibility.

Mm~

Just when he was considering whether he should continue deeper, he heard a faint noise... which sounded awfully like a moan. Furthermore, the voice seemed a bit familiar.

Suddenly, his eyes widened, and his heart started beating violently. "Don't tell me..."

He ran in the direction of the noise and soon saw a scene that caused his eyes to redden.

'This bastard. No wonder he-'

Grraaw!

Kacha!

Before he could even finish his thought, he heard a growl followed by a sharp pain in his neck. Then, his vision rapidly darkened.

Before completely losing his consciousness, he vaguely heard some growls and Jacob and Alison's horrified shrieks.

A/N: For those who want to know, MC never gets NTR'd.

This is my first novel ever, and my first language isn't English. So, I'll make mistakes writing this. Hope you don't mind them. Also, I would appreciate if you could point them out. Thanks!
