Chapter 99

Gungnir, the Spear of Eternity!

Odin's weapon, a powerful universal treasure, allowed anyone wielding it to tap into a portion of Odin's power within Asgard. This was one of Odin's defenses during his sleep to protect the realm from invasion. His wife, Frigga, had the authority to pass it on, and due to Thor's exile, she gave Gungnir to her youngest son, Loki, which ironically led to the current unrest in Asgard.

Fortunately, Gungnir's power could only be fully utilized in Asgard. If Loki had brought it to Earth, Abel knew he wouldn't stand a chance against him.

A golden thunderbolt crashed down, reducing the already damaged palace to rubble. But from beneath the wreckage, Thor emerged, wielding Mjolnir and charging straight for Loki. Loki, however, raised Gungnir and unleashed another golden ray, forcing Thor to use Mjolnir to deflect the attack, preventing him from getting any closer.

Watching Thor struggle under his assault, Loki felt a rush of satisfaction, finally tasting superiority over his brother. Yet, just as he was reveling in his dominance, the space behind him warped and twisted. A vortex spun into existence, and from it stepped Abel. He aimed his wand at Loki, casting a scarlet Stunning Spell.

Abel knew that killing Loki wasn't an option. It would not only destroy his relationship with Asgard but likely get him hunted down. Loki as an adversary was dangerous, but still, he needed Loki alive to achieve his larger goals. With that in mind, Abel chose a Stunner, a non-lethal spell that wouldn't cause lasting harm.

The red light hit Loki, causing him to stagger. However, Gungnir's protection under Odin's authority diminished the power of the spell. The effect was minimal, leaving Loki only slightly disoriented.

"A mere mortal dares to attack a god!" Loki sneered.

Despite being primarily a magician, Loki had been trained in combat and expertly twirled Gungnir, firing a golden blast toward Abel. Abel, knowing his combat skills paled in comparison to Loki's, retreated swiftly. He transformed into black smoke, darting around Loki and sending spells from his wand to stall him, creating an opening for Thor.

Thor seized the opportunity Abel provided. With Abel keeping Loki distracted, Thor finally closed in and hurled Mjolnir at Loki. The hammer crashed into Gungnir, knocking Loki back and sending him crashing through the tower doors.

Thor summoned Mjolnir back to his hand, and after exchanging a brief nod with Abel, both charged into the palace after Loki.

Inside, Loki stood, surrounded by golden light, gripping Gungnir tightly.

"With Gungnir in my hand, the power of Asgard's throne is mine. Thor, not even you can defeat me now!"

"Loki, put down Gungnir and face judgment when our father wakes. Don't make me fight you. Gungnir may be Father's weapon, but even with it, you'll never best me!" Thor warned.

"I don't need to beat you," Loki replied, his voice calm and composed. "Because I've already achieved my goal."

Both Abel and Thor immediately realized something was wrong. Abel reacted quickly, firing a spell at Loki, but it was too late. The spell only rippled through Loki's image, which dissolved like water, revealing it to be an illusion.

They had been deceived!

Loki, a master of illusions, had used the time to escape while his phantom kept them occupied. Abel cursed himself for underestimating Loki's cunning, and Thor bellowed in frustration.

"Loki! Come out and face me!"

Abel quickly pieced together Loki's plan and turned to Thor. "He's heading for the Bifröst! We have to stop him before it's too late!"

Thor immediately took off, Mjolnir propelling him forward, and Abel transformed into black smoke once more, racing alongside him toward the Rainbow Bridge.

Meanwhile, Loki was already at the Bifröst, riding a magical horse across the bridge. As he neared Heimdall's post, he dismounted, dispelling the horse, and approached the console. Gungnir glowed in his hand, and with one swift motion, he knocked out Sif, who had been guarding Heimdall, before inserting Gungnir into the console's slot.

With Gungnir in place, the Rainbow Bridge, typically a tool for travel across the Nine Realms, began transforming into a weapon capable of destroying entire worlds. It was now set to obliterate Jotunheim, the world of the Frost Giants.

Abel arrived in a swirl of black smoke, landing on the bridge just as Loki completed his action. He had wanted to teleport directly, but Loki's earlier use of Gungnir had blocked all teleportation magic. Abel now realized they were in Loki's territory, and with Gungnir in his hands, Loki had made Asgard his playground.
