On a small island colored green by countless trees, and inhabited by many animals, there was a young man who laid on the hot sandy beach.
He wore a comfortable black sleeved shirt, black pants, and a pair of black shoes.
Minutes passed, the sun slowly moving to the middle of the sky.
With a gasp, the young man opened his eyes, only to close it again as the brightness around him hurt his head.
After his eyes adjusted, the young man took a shark breath in and jumped to his feet.
"Its hot!"
Groaning, the young man brushed his body hurriedly and dusted off the burning grains of sand that stuck to his body. His eyes winced in annoyance before releasing a breath.
After his body was rid of the burning sand, the young man realized he was still burning as the sun shot beams of rays down to his body.
He looked around hurriedly and found the group of trees in the distance. Without much thought, he ran there quickly and put his back on the trunk with a huff.
He sat in silence as he took his time to catch his breath.
After a minute, his breath was back to normal. He finally felt he had the time to think on where he was. And boy did he have a lot of questions.
First, where was he?
A quick glance was enough to tell him he was on a shore but... which one? He lived in the middle of the city and it was nowhere near a shore. In fact, the closest one was a few hours away. He gave it a thought, and... no answer.
Second, just how did he end up here?
Again, the nearest shore was a few hours of driving out and he had no recollection of heading out. At. All.
The last thing he remembered was going out to restock on food.
'Maybe... I was kidnapped?'
His chest suddenly got heavy at the thought but that didn't last long as he remembered going home straight after.
He tried to remember more but there wasn't anything else that could possibly explain his situation.
'So I'm somehow in a middle of a beach with no signs of people, without knowing how I got here'
There were a lot more questions constantly running on his head but he found no use thinking through it as it would leave him unanswered and full of assumptions.
He reached in his pocket and pulled out his phone. There was still no reception. He had briefly checked and got the exact result while he was catching his breath earlier, but he was kind of hoping it was due to the phone over heating.
He gave it a few more seconds too cool but it was the same.
"Of course it is..."
He sighed and moved his hand to put his phone back in his pocket, when a pop-out window suddenly covered the home-screen.
Would you like to turn game mode on?
- Yes - No
"Huh?"
The young man raised his eyebrow. He wasn't familiar with this pop-up window.
He stared at his phone, scratching his head in thought. After a few second he let out a sigh and clicked on 'yes'.
This clearly wasn't the time to play any type of game but he felt a bit curious. Besides, it wasn't like he would find any answers to his questions right now unless he went out and explored this place.
'I'll just use this time to take a breath...'
He nodded at his justification.
After he pressed on the button, another window popped up with a percentage starting from zero.
Before he could complain, in a single breath it rose to half and was completed shortly after.
Welcome to your system!
Would you like a quick guide of the functions this system provides?
- Yes - No
The young man opened his eyes wide and spit out an imaginary fountain of water from his mouth.
"No way... no way, no way!"
He stared at the new pop-up intensely. It was a short sentence but there was a lot of information he could see just from looking at it.
'Hold on, if I've got this system, doesn't that mean I didn't just wake up in a random shore but instead isekai'd into a fictional world?'
The young man raised his head, looked at the beach in in front of his eyes, looked down at himself and found nothing specific that could confirm his thoughts.
But he was convinced.
'I mean it makes sense, I've read way too much garbage to not recognize the signs'
Granted, he could also be in the same regular earth or some kind of altered version. It could go either way.
But from the pop-up on his phone, he was sure he has a system.
The young man took a breath to calm his nerves and focused back on his phone.
There are currently four functions of this system, they are:
Status, Skills, Inventory, Character Cards and Item Cards
Please explore each function to find more information.
After reading through the new text, he saw a blinking arrow at the bottom right corner of the screen.
Clicking on it, the pop-up disappeared and he was back to the home-screen. Except there wasn't any other page, he swiped left and right to no result.
He gave up on that and focused back to the home-page. His usual apps were gone and in place were four apps.
"Ah, these should be the functions it was talking about"
The young man mumbled to himself. He focused on the first app.
When he saw the icon, the young man raised his eyebrows in surprise. It was a portrait of himself.
Dark gray hair and silver eyes, dressed in his black sleeved shirt. (Edit: He looks like joker from p5)
There's no way he could mistake his own appearance.
'It mentioned that there was four functions, if it's a portrait of me, then... this should be my status'
He looked at the other icons and found that each fit with the functions that the pop-up before mentioned.
"Alright. Makes sense."
Confirming that, he stared back at the icon with the portrait of himself, his status.
Name: Shin Balbel | Age: 19
Level: 1 (0%)
Stats:
Str - 10
Agi - 10
Con - 10
Wis - 10
Int - 10
Points: 10
After clicking on the app, he was met with this. Glancing at it, Shin was certain on of what everything meant but clicked on everything anyway, just to give himself time to absorb that this was actually happening.
Starting with his name and age... they were that, his name and age. Duh.
His level was as he expected.
The most important was his stats.
Strength: Determines the amount of force the user can apply.
Agility: Determines reaction time, speed and acceleration of the user's body.
Constitution: Determines the toughness of the user's body against harmful sources.
Intelligence: Determines cognitive processing speed.
Wisdom: Allows for efficient thoughts and increases energy.
Shin read through the stat descriptions quietly and nodded. So far everything was as he expected.
He was level one and had ten points across all his stats. It was a fresh slate, which he was perfectly fine with.
Moving onto the next app, Shin was met with a depressing blank screen.
Skills
Personal Skills
-empty-
Character Skills
-empty-
"hahaha..."
It was a bit too much to expect two certain overpowered skills but after an empty laugh, he felt happy again. After all he was a gamer!
Sure not receiving the legendary gamer's mind and body was disappointing but from his experience, the two skills become pretty irrelevant down the line in most stories anyway.
What he was curious about was the separation of skills. But tapping on it's description, he was only given redundant information.
"Eh, Its probably related to the character card app"
Shin said to himself and speculated.
The next app was the inventory. In it was a 10x10 grid that had 10 pages. Which meant there was a total of 1,000 slots.
Shin cupped his chin.
A thousand slots was a lot of space for an inventory. That's not to mention when items are stacked into one slot. Of course, that's if this inventory allows identical items to stack.
Shin's eye moved down and spotted a rock beside him. He picked it up. Not quite sure on the right way to store things in the inventory, he put the rock in front of his phone's screen hesitantly.
With a dim blue light, his grip on the rock loosened as it shrank to the size of his fingertip and disappeared.
Hurriedly examining his phone, Shin found that the first slot which was previously empty now had an icon of a rock. The very same one he was just holding.
Amazed, Shin tapped on the icon and the rock materialized from the screen of his phone.
He caught the rock and smiled.
'Interesting...'
Now he had other questions. Again, could identical items stack and is there a size limit to this?
'I mean, the rock totally shrank to fit into one slot. Couldn't it do the same to much larger objects?'
Eager to find his answer, Shin got up and began his experiment.
...
It was five minutes later that Shin sat down and put his back against the same tree with a sigh.
So to answer his question, yes, items could stack. But only up to 99 items per slot. As for the size limit, right now there was none. That's because the largest object he found around was currently in the second slot, a boulder that dwarfed his size.
It was this very boulder that made Shin sigh once again. Part in relief and part in fear. There was an explanation for this.
It was after he put the boulder on his inventory. Feeling curious, he tapped on the icon... only for him to fly forward as the ground shook violently, a gust of wind following right after.
It was the boulder. It materialized a meter away from hitting him. Apparently items always materializes front of his phone screen. So when he tapped on that icon it summoned the big rock behind him, high up in the air and came close to crushing him.
With shaky lips, Shin sighed once again.
"I gotta be careful around that in the future..."
Shaking his head, he moved onto the last two apps;
Character Card and Item Cards.
Honestly this was what Shin looked forward to the most, it wasn't typical to the gamer power and from the sound of it's name, it was definitely a vital part of this... game mode system... thing? Shin shook his head again as a happy smile graced his face, already forgetting his fear from a moment ago.
"So first, the character card"
Character Cards:

The user may get one character from the weekly random once for free. Character is chosen at random.
Shin widened his eyes and stood up.
"No way...!"
He took of his glasses and wiped it with his shirt. It wasn't because he didn't believe his eyes, he was already past that point. But just because he was aware this was really real, doesn't mean Shin wasn't shocked.
"These characters... seriously!?"
He recognized all of them.
This means if he got the card of any of those characters, he would be able to use their abilities and skills right?
Feeling incredibly excited, Shin put exploring the Item card app for later, unable to hold his impatience.
"If only there was a luck stat... I'd definitely put in all my points on it"
Shin checked his stats again. Unfortunately, there wasn't.
Shaking his head, Shin took the offer to choose one character from the weekly random. What kind of person would he be if he didn't? Well... no one, since who would be dumb enough to do that?
In an instant, the names from the weekly random turned gray one by one, until one name was left.
