Chapter 19– Return

[Ding! Congratulations, you have successfully completed the quest: Power Simulation]

[Do you wish to open the exit portal now?]

Almost an hour had passed since Jhin activated the Power Tutorial. In this past hour, he was able to measure the strength of the ink army to some extent.

The ink soldiers acted like a clone of himself. He could instantly transmit his thoughts into each soldier. Thus, be able to rapidly execute his command. All he had to do was focused on a certain soldier or a group of soldiers or even the entire troops.

He could command at will. However, it was very taxing to his mind. It was as though he was writing using both hands at the same time. If he wasn't careful, he might issue a wrong command. For example, if he wanted an ink soldier to punch a golem, but instead of only commanding that ink soldier, he commanded an entire group to do so. Thus, resulting to chaotic formation and all his previous commands towards the group would be reset.

Just like earlier, he willed one of the ink soldiers to punch the ground, yet he forgotten to cut off the connection with another group. Thus, when the ink soldier executed his command, the other group also punched the ground. It was terrible, it allowed the enemy golems to strike them. Jhin had to issue another command to the group again, wasting another bout of time. If it were real soldiers, they would certainly be hacked to death.

Speaking of the soldiers, Jhin couldn't helped but scanned the hundreds of men lying on the ground using the vision of the ink soldier on his wrist - Earlier, he discovered that even after the ink soldier had turned into a rune, he could still share vision with it. Although limited, it was enough to see the surrounding area.

The last bit of rays from the sun landed upon their being. Revealing their wounds and bloodstained bodies. Some had even arrows sticking out from their armors. While their faces revealed endless despair and helplessness. Half of their brothers had perished, with some crippled and in critical conditions. Yet… They didn't accomplish their goal. They hadn't obtained a single bit of resources.

As he lay on Saline's thigh, Jhin couldn't help but lament the cruelty of this world. He felt lucky that he had lived in a place of abundance – the Earth. A place where crops and foods could be easily obtained through money. Some could even beg, and still obtain it. Unlike this world where one needs to risk his life for the sake of the food itself.

He felt thankful and was slightly annoyed at himself. He remembered how he often wasted food, just because he didn't have an appetite. Not eating because of emotional upheaval and so on. He couldn't help but criticized how foolish his acts were.

"I wonder how those broken-hearted people reacts if they were placed in this world." Jhin thought in amusement. Back on Earth, he often heard on the news or in some friends' conversation about such issue - after being rejected, ending a relationship, and so on; how these people often entered self-torture, just like not eating for days or skipping a meal.

"They didn't know how lucky they were. They were wasting the gift their land has for them." Jhin sighed.

The soldiers had arrived long ago. After being curious as to why he was lying on Saline's thigh – the name he learned earlier after listening to them, the wounded warriors returned their attention to the battlefield.

The intense battle had continued for nearly an hour now. The ink soldiers were akin to immortal beings in the battlefield. Even after having their bodies being destroyed, they would just regenerate. Moreover, the ink soldiers could also combine each other. Although it couldn't raise their power to the level of Tier 2 beings, their destructive and killing efficiency would rise by a level.

Another thing that Jhin discovered was that whenever his ink soldier defeated a golem and obtained its core, that core would instantly be sent into his inventory.

1. Treasure Chest (3x)

2. Mana Crystal 2356 pieces

His empty inventory has now 2356 crystals within, and it was still growing. Jhin realized that each slot of his inventory could store a thousand mana crystal.

The battle between the ink soldiers and the moonlight golems were almost over. The wounds on his ink soldiers no longer regenerates. In about a minute or so, all the ink soldiers would disappear from the battlefield; the Power Tutorial was about to end.

Taking a deep breath, Jhin said to the system, "Open the portal."

[Opening the portal… please wait a moment…]

Suddenly, the large gateway started shining. At its top, a ball made from condensed purple light appeared. The ball of light started spinning, traces of lightning appeared around it. As the ball spin, a column of translucent light appeared on the gate. Then a scenery appeared.

"This…"

All the soldiers stared at the portal with wide eyes. They stared unblinkingly at the familiar barren land.

"We can finally exit this damn place!"

Tears welled up from the eyes of the soldiers.

Earlier, they had tried activating the gateway but to no avail. They thought that they would forever be trapped inside the shrine. Aside from a few of them, the rest could no longer walk. The injuries on their bodies were so severe. At most, they could traverse a kilometer or so before running out of strength.

"Let's return!"

Footsteps echoed in the hill as the injured soldiers dragged their bodies and entered the portal. Jhin only felt someone picking him up while the black cat landed on his chest, sleeping.

All the soldiers entered the portal. Leaving behind the bloodstained ground and the thousands of golems. The ink soldiers started dissipating. What was left was the ruined battlefield and the frozen moonlight golems. Clouds completely covered the sun and the nameless shrine welcomed the night.
