The night passed like any other night. I was alone in my bed and Lucien was sleeping on the couch. There was no fight, just understanding between us. We both knew if he slept here, there would be more than sleeping here. Neither of us felt it would be better not to take any chances. We both believed that we will take our chances with each other. The mistrust that was between us was long gone, replaced by lust and something else that I won't dare to name. The morning gave me something else to marvel at Lucien's half-naked body. I didn't notice at night he slipped out of his shirt. I wanted to ogle him, but I was fearful that his spider senses would kick in and catch me red-handed.
I moved away from him towards the washroom and took a quick shower. I changed in the bathroom itself, afraid that he will wake any second. I caught my undergarment falling from my hands to the wet floor in the nick of time. I inwardly cursed myself. I wished that I was alone for a second. So, I could roam free inside the bedroom without worrying who is going to see me. When I came out, a guard was waiting there and Lucien was nowhere to see. I sighed and went to him. His eyes moved over my body, lascivious. I gave him a sour look. He laughed at me. I rolled my eyes at his audacity.
"Princess you better get ready for courtroom soon", he said. He extended his hands and I jumped back to escape his filthy touch. "If you try that again, I'm going to take my bow and arrow, and you won't be laughing again", I told him. " Bitch", he muttered under his breath and walked away. I mentally made a note to never open the door without at least a knife in my hand. I started to get ready, so I won't have to do it with the girls. I would rather speak to them than put on makeup. But they will be busy getting ready, but I don't mind. Mina will also come thereafter to get ready. It was our only socializing time, we should take full advantage of it.
It seems the party was happening every night here. I will try to speak to an aunt, but it seems impossible considering the amount of time we were going to spend there. I wondered where Lucien get ready. It was enticing to stay here and find out. But I felt it would be better not to take any chance of talking to my aunt again. If I was discreet enough, I could talk more with her and understand why she considers Lucien to be our ally. When I reached, it was already buzzing with the sound of girls getting ready and talking at the same time. I saw Lucien sitting in his usual spot looking deep in thought instead of his forever bored expression. I tried to catch his eye, but he didn't look up, leaving me dismayed and vulnerable. I didn't like the level of desperation I was getting into, it has been only a few days and I have hit the lowest of lows.
There was a slight tug at my hands. I looked away from Lucien to see Mina. Her smile knowing, I gave her an embarrassed smile back. She took hold of my hands again and dragged me back. I looked at her questioningly, but she didn't say anything. We reached the washroom and saw my aunt staying there. I looked at her and saw her smile. I went ahead and hugged her. My eyes started flowing with tears. Mina went back, closing the door to give us some privacy.
"How are you, Mara?", she asked me. " I'm good", I told her shakily. "I was worried about you after you killed his bird, but he didn't do anything to you, right?", she asked me. " No, he is good to me", I told her. "I'm feeling better now, sweetheart ", she said. " I want you to be meticulous Igor doesn't like defeats he will be concocting some plan to take you", she said. "If you hate him so much, why do you stay with him?", I asked her. " Because I have to for Misha", she said, lowering her eyes. I could see hurt in those eyes.
I looked at her with confusion. "Who is Misha ", I asked her. "My daughter", she said, her voice barely audible. I let out a gasp. I have a cousin. That would mean I could never take my aunt back. Not because of Igor, but she won't be willing unless her daughter accompanies her.
"Where's she?", I asked, her excitement clear in my voice. " I don't know Igor has her, she is safe that's all I know", she said wiping her tears. The whole world crashing down. I thought the escape was going to be simple before coming here. But as the days go by, it was impossible to go back. "How can he take her from you?", I asked her. " He is the father Mara", she said, breaking down then and there. I stayed where I was shocked to the core. I wish this was not happening.
I can't kill him now without knowing where Misha was. I wanted to console my aunt and try to be strong for her, but I didn't know-how. "Don't worry aunt Lima, we will find her", I gave her a promise. I knew it wasn't going to be easy. But I can't stand to see her tears, so I offer her what I could do, a hollow promise. " I don't think so, Mara. All these years I have been doing everything he asked me to do. But he still hasn't shown me any kindness. He is very cruel to Mara, he likes to play with me. He promises to take me to her if I do something, and when I do it, he denies it. His son is the same, Mara don't trust his words", she said. I nodded half-heartedly, I knew Lucien was different but now was not a time to argue.
