I had a shirt, but it was three years old, and it would be nice to get a new one.
“Oh, and Archie, he’ll need shoes as well,” Hyde called after the tailor.
“Those are next door.”
“As soon as we’re done here, we’ll get the shoes for you. You can’t go around all the time in running shoes.”
“No, but Hyde, this is going to cost a fortune.” I could see the dollar signs racking up. “Listen. You want to buy me the tux, and that’s fine.” I wasn’t a fool, no matter what Sir might think, and there was no way I could throw that kind of money around. Well, I just didn’t have it. But, “I’ve got enough in my checking account to pay for the suit.”
“And shoes?”
I nodded.
I was afraid he was going to give me a hard time, but he just smiled. “All right.”
“Thank you. That reminds me. May I invite Hunter to the wedding?”
“Yes, you may, and anyone else you’d like to celebrate the occasion with us.”
“Excellent.”
