Chapter 38

The elevator was empty. Steel-like mirrors decorated the small confines. When Damian saw a reflection of himself, he believed he looked a little younger. The skin under his eyes was pulled tight and his lips were puffed with some red. Dr. Chen told Damian that he looked healthy, with less stress, which Damian now agreed with. He also said, “You probably feel better too.” He did.

The elevator doors slid open at floor six and he walked into and down a narrow, well-lit hallway. Dark brown carpet covered the floor. The walls were cream-colored and decorated with an oak wainscoting. Apartment 6-H was down the hall and to the right. Inside, he would find his lover on the couch and watching zombies eat blood-filled humans during an apocalyptic era. Damian found the apartment’s door, twisted its knob, pushed the door open, and stepped inside his safe world again, relishing the company of his lover. 57: Heinous Acts
