CH26 (390), Motivating Others By Showing Off

The next morning, I went out after breakfast and visited my ongoing construction project. It had been roughly one and a half months since my last visit, and even if I had talked with the foreman two weeks ago to get a status update, seeing it with one's own eyes was just different. Just like now.

Hearing the foreman say that the outside was complete and seeing it by myself was just not the same. Standing here, looking at the building I had commissioned, I would have thought the orphanage was complete, but after stepping inside I heard the ongoing bustle.

I knew that the basement and ground floor were already complete, but I still curiously looked around while moving towards the stairs after waving to the worker keeping an eye on the entrance.

As I stepped onto the first floor, I saw the foreman waiting for me. It seems the worker at the entrance informed him of my arrival.

"Mr. Geo, what a pleasant surprise," he politely greeted me. "Hello, Seymour. I came over to take a look," I returned and he actually laughed a bit when I said that.

"I thought as much," he said and to be honest there was no other real reason why I would have otherwise shown up, so it was kind of obvious.

After our little exchange, he began showing me around and they had done some good progress.

"As you can see, only the last two floors are left and we should be able to finish that within the next two to three weeks. After that, all we have to do is finish putting in the furniture and do a final check to ensure everything is in working order, so the building should be ready for handover by the end of the month," he said once we returned to the ground floor after the tour.

That the completion date was estimated to be before the end of my vacation was truly fortunate.

"That's great news," I returned with a smile. "I'm not sure if you remember it, but I told you that I have another project for you once you are done with this one," I began, knowing full well that there was no way that he would forget something like that.

"I do," he directly said with a nod. "Well, the primary one is connected to this building. I want you to turn 40% of the leftover plot into a green area while constructing a proper and safe playground on the other 60%," I told him, and he did not seem surprised by that.

Well, I was not surprised that he was not surprised since adding a playground onto the property seemed like a logical thing to do when one had enough space to do so.

"No problem," he simply agreed. "I would like a few suggestions on the layout of the playground, preferably before you are done with the building so that you can directly continue working on the rest without having to delay the operation," I requested and he gave me a nod.

"I'll make sure to pass on your request to my boss. We'll make sure to get a few designs ready along with their respective cost estimate so that you can choose the one that you like the most," he promised and I gave him a grateful nod.

After that, I said my farewells and made my way back home. All in all, I spent less than 2 hours outside, so there were still nearly another two hours until lunch. I decided to spend that time bonding with my Pokemon and called out Charmander to spend some time with him.

We first played some tag, with me obviously slowing down enough to ensure that Charmander was able to eventually catch me. Still, I made sure he worked for it since his eagerness in catching me helped him challenge his speed limits.

After two rounds, I called out Osiris/Marowak and let him join us as well for another three rounds before calling out the other younglings to join in on the fun. I called for a stop after roughly an hour and began handing out juice as well as snacks for the little ones to replenish their energy.

After that little break, I had all of them demonstrate their current moves, or rather their best three moves so that all of them could give each other a show. This allowed them to showcase their prowess and motivated themselves as well as the other younglings to do better so that they could put on a better show the next time.

Eggy managed to take everyone by surprise when he did a combination move with explosive results. He first sent a concentrated Poison Gas cloud into the air, before following up with a concentrated Ember that lit up the Poison Gas, resulting in a bright explosion.

The kids all cheered, making Eggy puff up in joy and I made sure to praise him as well. Charmander was the last one to perform and he demonstrated his Ember and Smokescreen, but it seemed as if he felt that his performance was not flashy enough, so he also performed a Dragon Dance.

Once all of them had their chance to show off, I decided to give them a real show and called out Mothra/Butterfree, Manami/Lapras, as well as Thor/Raichu, so that those three could give the kids a real show.

Thor gave them a light show, literally, thanks to his electric moves. Manami used her water and ice moves to create a blue spectacle, even if we ended up getting a bit wet.

Nothing that couldn't be dealt with with the help of Enji/Arcanine, who insisted on joining in as well after drying us with a super low-powered Heat Wave.

He released a Fire Spin into the air, before finishing with a Fire Blast to the joy of the little ones who enjoyed the warmth and light show. Mothra obviously decided that she had to top them all and considering the number of moves she knew that meant that the little ones were in for a treat.

She released multiple Energy Balls into the air before taking control of them with Psychic. Afterward, she had them dance in the air before crashing into each other, causing them to explode and release green sparks.

She began a Quiver Dance while releasing her spores causing colorful powder to fall off her while she dance in the air. There was no need to worry about the status moves since she caught the powder using Tailwind/Gust and her air manipulation making the air around her sparkle while she danced through other air before she gathered all the powder into a ball and burned it with a final Solar Beam.

Obviously, everyone cheered for her and I saw that she enjoyed it very much. She flew up to me and looked at me with her eyes screaming "praise me", which I naturally did.

Regardless, there was no doubt that she had put on the biggest show, and looking at the sparkling eyes of the little ones while they looked at Mothra, they thought so as well.

Honestly, I kind of regretted that I did the show in such an impromptu manner, in our backyard at that, instead of doing it inside Utopia since the others missed out. If I had at least thought of streaming it to Utopia, I would have felt fine, but I forgot to do even that since I did get kinda engrossed myself.

The others would no doubt hear about the show from those present and would want to see it as well, but nothing was stopping them/us from doing a repeat performance inside Utopia. I was sure that they would catch that themselves, so I would ask them to not do that indiscriminately.

Anyway, I thanked the older group for the show, and the little ones followed my example. Afterward, I placed all of them back inside Utopia, except for Charmander, who stayed outside with me. He excitedly talked about the show we had seen and he was dreaming of putting on a similarly grand display in the future.

Mom called us in for lunch a few minutes later, so we went inside. I pulled out Charmander's food after we took our seats since that was better for him, but he also received a small portion of the lunch mom made to satisfy his craving for the stuff we ate.

While we ate, I made sure to distribute the lunch to everyone inside Utopia as well, while taking a look at the situation inside, and as I had expected, the talk regarding the show Mothra and co put on was making the rounds, so I used the Master-Command to tell them that there would be a repeat this evening.

After dinner, Charmander and I went back out and began to play another game. I dug out some earth and used my ground manipulation to form an earth ball, which I then proceeded to throw into the air, where Charmander tried to shoot it down using Ember, causing it to burst apart. We kept doing that until he was exhausted.

Once that happened I gave him some juice as well as a snack and let him rest, while I told him some stories. I put him back inside Utopia an hour before dinner and asked Osiris to keep him company before I went back inside to spend time with my parents.

Around two hours after dinner, at roughly 9 p.m., I retreated to my room and entered Utopia after locking my door, where I made sure to keep my promise regarding the show. This one was even grander some of the others joined in as well.

For the next three days, I kept choosing one of my Pokemon as the main focus of the day, while still spending some time with the others. I kept the period around breakfast and after dinner for my parents.

Anyway, on Giratiday, which was the fourth day, I decided to focus on Pancham, and we were currently focusing on Ice Punch. We had worked on quite a few moves during the more than ten months since he joined me, and Ice Punch was the latest of the punch moves we were working on.

Iron Fist was the main reason punch moves were the ones we were concentrating on, and once he managed to get Ice Punch down, he would have completed the elemental punch trio. By now, our relationship had reached a satisfactory level, and I felt comfortable with him evolving to Pangoro, so once he was done with Ice Punch, I was going to give him the go-ahead.

I knew that the moment was really close since I was expecting Pancham to succeed either today or tomorrow, if not tomorrow, then the day after tomorrow. Mars/Ursaring really helped him with his moves, and after his demonstrations as well as tips, all Pancham had to do was practice them until he properly got the moves down.

That was also why I was so confident in my prognosis since it had been like that when he learned, Thunder Punch as well as Fire Punch, and Pancham proved me right by pulling off a proper Ice Punch two hours after lunch.

Once he did that, I retreated to my room and entered Utopia with Pancham, where we went to his area. I called everyone over for his big event before I began pulling out the stuff I prepared for his evolution. They were all fighting and dark-type supplements as well as materials.

We went to the standard procedure which consisted of him swallowing a part of the supplements, me smearing a part on his body, and placing the rest around him. Once that was done, and the others had settled around Pancham while leaving enough space for his evolution, I retreated before giving him the signal that had him initiate his evolution, causing him to light up.
