Chapter 2

Knock... knock...

"Honey, breakfast is ready... Are you going to be eating with us?"

The voice that asked me just now was my dearest mother, the person who gave me such unconditional love that even my love for her wouldn't suffice as payment. Smiling, I gave a reply to her as I stood up and stared at the blue sky that watched us from above. I felt a sudden cold breeze pass down through the lower half of my body; it wasn't the rainy season or anything so why did I feel such a thing. I looked at the mirror beside my table and realized why there was that feeling; I mean most people would stand naked inside their room right?

I turned off the Air Condition and sat down on my soft gaming chair filled with the colors of black and red. I opened my laptop to take a quick check on my schedule, it seems today is fine to slack off from work. I am an electrical engineer at my friend's company; I work out their electric systems on a weekly basis and also check whether there is anything that is going on with their power supply. After seeing that today is a clear day, I wore plain and simple navy blue sweatpants and changed my white sleeveless shirt to a white t-shirt with a small guitar design on the left chest.

Walking down the stairs of our house I could hear a familiar voice from our dining area. That male voice was somewhat irritating, I don't know why but that voice would irritate no matter how much I try to not get irritated.

"OH? Aren't you quite early?"

A man asked me as I walked towards the table. He sat on the left side of the table beside my father while my mother placed our meal; I took the initiative and helped my mother in preparing. As we finished I sat down on the chair opposite to my brother, my mother had prepared a light breakfast knowing that my father and brother would be going to their work after breakfast.

After the preparations were done we took time to say our grace before chomping down on the delicious breakfast my mother cooked for us, the dinning was slowly filled with laughter as my brother began to tell stories about his current job. It was humorous; my brother always had a better sense of humor than me, which always led to him having people flock around him. As for me, well I'd rather not make my circle too large, those who are around me right now are enough, I mean wouldn't having too many friends be stressful to handle.

"Yo! Caleb, do you have any plans today?"

My brother asked out of the blue. I remember this habit of his, that whenever he had something up and wanted to push it on to me he would usually ask what my plans were. I sighed and gave him an awkward smile. I was about to give him a reply when my mother suddenly spoke.

"He's coming with me to grocery"

She spoke with a gentle smile on her face. I smiled at my brother as we continued to have our breakfast, after a few minutes my father stood up wearing his brown polo and black pants. My mother stood as well and walked with my father to the door. She happily clung to him. My father gave her a hug and gave her a kiss on the forehead before exiting our house. My mother waved her hand as she spoke.

"Take Care, Dear!"

Ugh, those two... acting all lovey-dovey even in their fifties. I'm not against that as I love both my parents dearly, but like still... aren't they too old to be acting like that.

"You're probably thinking that they're too old to be acting all lovey-dovey right?"

This guy...it's as if he was reading my thoughts, it kinda pisses me off whenever he guesses what I'm thinking correctly. How irritating...

"Anyhow, when will you be introducing a girlfriend of yours?"

This topic again...when will the day come where they would stop bothering me with this kind of stupid question. I was about to answer when he suddenly stood up and grabbed a coat that was hanging from the back of his chair.

"Well forcing an answer from you would be stupid since it's obvious enough. Still you should try to go out with someone and introduce them to our parents, you get my point right?"

He winked at me before walking towards the door, he gave mother a kiss on the forehead before leaving the door, he also waved at me before exiting. This guy is still the same as ever, I'm already lucky enough to have my family and no one still captures my interest so there's no chance I'll ever end up liking someone back.

Sigh~~~

"Hey now, you're in front of food don't go sighing on it"

My mother glared at me with serious eyes, I gave an awkward laugh before finishing up my food. Once I was done with breakfast, I placed all the plates at the sink and left it there for my mother to wash. I've always wanted to help her out but it seems that house chores are the only thing that entertains her when nobody's around.

I went straight back to my room and opened my laptop, I stared at the home screen filled with scattered files and realized that I wasn't using my desktop. That's why not a single game exists. Realizing that I went on to watch some random videos on YouTube, time passed on and I slowly felt my eyes getting heavy. I stayed up all night playing a game on my phone with my friends so there's no reason for me to not feel the urge to sleep. And so I eventually gave in, drifting into a dream-like place that reminded me of my former school, the hallways that I used to walk to, the loud classrooms that I would pass by and the girl standing in front of my classroom door waving at me.

But for some reason I had a feeling that I shouldn't talk to her, I wonder why? She was always in my dreams from the past up until now but I wonder... why her face is filled with this light that my eyes can't pass through.

"Caleb~"
