Her Proposal

For anyone who is already intrigued, the Master Thief is one of the greatest mysteries of the century. He was a classic thief that appeared in the late 1980s, who stole all the highly valued arts, pieces of jewelry, and any significant collector's items owned by the multi-rich and famous. For almost twenty years he went country to country pleasing himself with his thieving operations and mocking all of the state detectives, military, and policemen as not one single of them ever got a hold of him.

Strangely, he vanished for three decades and just emerged thirty-five years after, this time, he was obsessively stealing a class of articles, all of which were the art prodigy, Huzey Montarini's work.

This of course brought huge shock to everyone because if calculated by timeline, the Master thief must be in his late eighties by then and yet it seemed that his skills in thieving have not abated yet and until then, no one, not even the government itself could give any detail of him.

"The state detectives themselves were not able to find him, how could I?" Crescent told her boss, hoping perhaps that they will all somehow realize that it was the most stupid idea they ever believe in.

"We are not asking you to find him," Mr. Burchman emphasized. "We just need you to get some information about him, something we can feed into our viewers,"

"That's almost as impossible as finding him," Crescent answered, "If that was easy enough, then people right now wouldn't be wondering who he is. Yet even after almost a century, no one could tell even a single information and description of him. Besides it's been three years since he last stole something, he might be in some kind of vacation again for God knows how long,"

"Then track down his previous footsteps, start with Huzey Montarini probably?" His boss pressed in. The executives were really serious about making a documentary about the master thief because they knew how that story would sell. It can be Median Telecommunications saving grace. "The executives terribly want Miss Garza and to be honest you are brilliant enough to create something convincing,"

"I get it. You want me to make up something based on nothing," It was very obvious from Mr. Burchman's words that they wanted to produce something even if it was all made up. "And get myself to jail afterward when authorities find out it was all fake,"

"Fine if you don't want to pursue it," Her boss finally gave up. He had had this kind of conversation with her many times and right then he knew he was just wasting his time. Crescent was still not up for it, perhaps next time, when she's desperate enough to prove herself, he can get her to do what the executives wanted. "But what I'm telling you is that this kind of proposal is the kind of proposal that an executive would be willing to invest in no matter how expensive it is. Also, this will get you through the ring right away, could be the huge break you are waiting for,"

Crescent only shook her head and glared at him for a time before storming out the door. The executive was obviously pulling tricks on her and that probably was the reason why most of her proposals were rejected. They were pressuring her until she bled.

The door behind her resounded a loud bang. Outside, Crescent closed her eyes in deep annoyance and leaned on the door behind him for a minute. Conversations about the master thief were exhausting her, for why in the world would her bosses think such an outrageous proposal would be that possible?

"So bitter eh?" Davina's annoying voice ran through her ears. The girl was still near the door even though she was asked to leave earlier.

"Eavesdropping are we?" Crescent replied in the same manner "Then since it looks like you did then you must have heard I have no ounce of interest in the announcer contract you had in your hands. I'm more than a pretty face anyway,"

Davina's eyes narrowed at her, "With that look of yours? Which part of you is pretty?"

"My heart Davina. My heart," She replied sarcastically with a hand on her chest. She walked away, refusing to waste her time with Davina's insults. Women like Davina are attention seekers and so deal with them, you just basically deny them some of your attention. She heard her cuss and muttered, "Whatever" at her back before going away.

Davina's words are slightly true. With her super dry raven hair, thick eyes glasses and lack of fashion style, she nearly passed what they called a decent woman. However, Crescent didn't really lack any good features, in fact she had some natural gifts that most women wished they had, she just didn't have the time to fix herself or probably she doesn't know how to. What everyone didn't know was that apart from she was all busy with work, she was also struggling on something else that made her too preoccupied to even think about how she looked. Because behind that head strong and very competitive Crescent Garza, there lies a flame pit that was already ready to consume her.
