(POV Ser Rick Longsword)
Two years of my journey with Ser Alan, I've witnessed many things And gained much knowledge from him. And with my hard work, I have become a knight. Ser Rick Longsword, A fitting name indeed.
Now I'm returning to my homeland as a knight. If my parents were alive, I know that they would be proud of me. But it's a sad truth that I could not show them what kind of a man I have become.
Hah.. one's a skinny boy and now a man who is worthy as a knight. And because of my skills, Ser Alan let me Carry one of his swords. And as one of his sworn swords up until now, I did not disappoint him.
I believe that with how much battle experience I gained I could now challenge Ser Alan's former squires. I believe that the Steel brothers won't win this time in single combat against me. But who knows they might be stronger than before.
When our ships entered the Shipbreakers bay, One of the most dangerous places in Westeros we were not afraid. Because as a stormlander it felt like home. The winds and the lightning is like welcoming us. It felt good to return to my homeland. And I believe that my comrades feel the same.
Then from the distance, we spotted the mighty castle of Storm's End. How it still stands tall against the storms for thousands of years. Then I recalled the lessons and the history Ser Alan told us. Though he never told us how he learned that, well, he does know a lot of kinds of stuff.
Storm's End's construction was attributed to Durran, a legendary figure of the Age of Heroes, who earned the hatred of the sea god and the wind goddess when he took Elenei, daughter of the two gods, as his wife. In a rage, the two gods sent massive storms to destroy Durran's keep. Durran defied the gods and built a larger and more formidable keep, but it was also destroyed. Durran's seventh keep, built allegedly with the aid of Bran the Builder, withstood the rage of Elenei's parents and gained the name of Storm's End.
Storm's End became the seat of the rulers of the Stormlands, the Storm Kings, for millennia. When Aegon the Conqueror invaded Westeros, he sent his commander and rumored half-brother, Orys Baratheon, to take Storm's End. The last of the Storm Kings, Argilac the Arrogant, left the safety of his stronghold and met Baratheon in open battle. Argilac was defeated, and Orys Baratheon took Argilac's domains, sigil, motto, and daughter, becoming the founder of House Baratheon.
One of the mightiest fortresses on the entire continent, Storm's End has endured many sieges but has never fallen to an attacker in its millennia-long history. Its seaward wall is 80 feet thick with a 150 feet drop into the sea below. The castle is said to be protected by spells woven into its walls that prevent magic from penetrating its defenses. is what he told us but I'll confirm that after entering it.
Storm's End consists of a massive curtain wall surrounding a single immense drum tower. Unlike many other castles, which consist of a complex of different buildings, Storm's End is entirely contained within one large building. This is due to the immense storms that frequently batter the castle, necessitating a design that minimized the number of times inhabitants would need to be outside.
Even though those lessons were not very important to us. But knowing the history of our kingdoms did have our interest.
We docked our ship safely and few Baratheon men led by Ser Penrose were waiting for us. They welcomed lord Baratheon and escorted us to the castle.
The castle is mighty indeed and what we all heard about it is all true.
Then we were welcomed at the gate by Lord Roberts's younger brothers. The older one is my age and the younger one is not older than five.
Lord Robert embraced his younger brother who was very happy to see him. But had few words with his middle brother.
Then he introduced us to his family and subordinates. And mostly bragged about the battle of Gulltown and his friend Ser Alan and us. Though I spotted that lord Stannis did not actually like the relationship between lord Robert and Ser Alan.
Well, truthfully speaking none of the knights or Lord that already arrived liked us. But ser Alan somehow got the young lord Renly's attention. Well, I believe every child will be mesmerized by him if he opens his mouth intending to tell stories.
After a grand feast in the night and the Raiders were sent to those houses that still did not respond to the summon. And also a counter masseur against them is started.
And Lord Baratheon called his closest Bannerman to come to the Storms End with only their cavalry forces. He formed a plan to defeat his Rebellious bannermen one by one.
The first one that he suspected was house Connington. So after some good amount of preparation, we rode to Griffins Rost. But the lord of the castle John Connington was not there, Instead, we found the acting Lord john Connintons cousin Roland Connington who surrendered. Ser Roland was instructed via reven by his Lord and also by the king to lead the other Targaryen loyalist houses Stormland to defeat house Baratheon?
He also spoke that the other three houses will be gathering at SummerHall to join their forces. And with this new information, Lord Robert hurriedly ordered to make preparation. And also he made Ser Roland Connington as New Lord of Griffins Roost. But also as a punishment for betraying house Baratheon Roland Conninton will be under house arrest. And Lord Baratheon will take their forces with him who will be led by one of the knight from house Connintons .
Next battle will be take place In SummerHall And I can't wait to return to my birthplace, And also me and my fellow comrades have some personal grudges against those lords. We will never forget what they have done in our village.
And I cannot wait to get some of that sweet revenge. And hopefully, if I meet with one of those lords on the battlefield, I swear that they will pay for what they did.
Yes, the vengeance will be ours !!
hmm... I like these words .
I should make it my house words when I have one .
