chapter 6 (swahili and french content)

Abbie's POV

"Stripper."

"What the hell dude?" Prudy says before I coud get my head around the person that called me that hideous name. Ofcorse it had to be him. The "cute boy". I don't even know why my head still referred him as cute when obviously Henry here is the cute one. I can feel my palms fold into fists on both sides and I want to cry, so hard but I cannot let him think of me as weak. I cannot let any of them think of me as weak.

"What!" He says somewhat satisfied by my reaction. " I called her a thousand times. And she was stripping in a boutique so why not?" He scoffs.

He called me? But ofcorse he did and why exactly would he be calling me? I do not want to find out. I pick my sling bag and walk out. Kiara calls after me but I am seeing red at the time and want nothing to do with any of them. I call Kiara and she meets me by the coffee shop.

"You are crying." She pulls me into a hug. "Why? What happened?" She asks me leading me to her car.

Why was I crying? I honestly had no idea. Oh, yea because that douchebag called me stripper? Ofcorse, dumb. I did not have anything to explain and she didn't push it. The drive was quiet until she pulled up at the same house as yesternight. I have no idea why but I felt some solace around these black people. It's amazing that Berlin fit in so well with them but he was cheeky and all, loved hip-hop apart from the part he did not curse as much but who are these people and why does Prudy seem uncomfortable around them.

Ah, yea, Prudy I want to call her to apologise but why should I, I'm sure none of that affected her. I listen to my 'friends'? Talk about how whites in campus intimidate them. How they are given separate rooms with the nerds, how their this and that was not considered and a white guy passes by drunk asking for a refill. The guys gang up on him and he ends up outside the huge house. Who lived here? I want to ask but I didn't want to interrupt.

The weekend went on fast. Brandon did not bring up the lunch offer that I didn't show up for and I was glad when I realized he was gay and not trying to hit on me.

"Abigail!" Mom says when I hit receive on my cellphone.

"Mah." I say uninterested

"It has been just one week Abigail and kwani ulimaliza pesa tutafute? Hio kazi ya ukahaba umeanza ni gani Abigail !"

(Tell me if you are low on money so we can gather some more. What is that prostitution business you've started Abigail!)

"Mom ,why would you think that of me? You taught me well..."

She cuts me short.

"Fyata huo mdomo! (shut up!)" She commands and even if she is so many hours away my skin jumps slightly at her order.

"I'm seeing videos of you stripping in public and you dare open your mouth to talk about what I taught you?"

Oh, the boutique. How did she even get to see that? Words travel fast I guess.

"It's not what you think mom." I try my best to keep my cool as I find my way to the training field. I just need a distraction that was not so filled with book romance.

"What is it! Abig..." I cut her mid sentence.

"I am a grown up and I don't need to explain myself to you!" I yell folding my left palm into a fist and end the call. I can't believe I just said that! Everyone is staring but I don't care. I increase my pace blinking the tears back and find my seat to a roll skating training ground. I am enjoying them playing roll ball until HE shows up, carrying skating boots and high-fives the teammates who look happier than they were just now. He sees me and I curl up almost as if I was trying to get lost in a crack.

He brings his full pink lips to a grin and walks up to me, still carrying his boots.

"Stalking me Ms Abigail?"

My jaw clenches at the use of my full name and wait, I don't even know his name. I scoff.

"If at all I knew you would be here, I'd definitely not show up." He pouts and gives a fake frown but I take my chances and walk away.

I call Brandon for french classes and meet him at his house. Renting off campus is great. You don't have to get fat on junk.

"Bonjour mademoiselle Abbie (Hi madam Abbie)." He says when he opens the door for me and I smile.

"Bonjour monsieur Randy. (Hi mr. Randy)" I struggle with my accent but still manage to spit out some words that make sence and I'm proud of myself.

"Bienvenue. (welcome)" He says and I chuckle.

"Merci. (thankyou)" I walk past him and fall on his brown sofa.

"I'm having quite a promising student here." He walks off to the kitchen and opens the fridge.

"I'm having quite a promising teacher here." I imitate his words in an attempt to flatter and he grins handing me lemonade.

"Video game?"

"No, I... Have never played video games."

"Ah, don't worry, I'm rust too." He picks up a pad and hands me then goes off to connect, whatever it was that he was connecting and the game starts to run. It's car racing. He shows me some set up and shows me how to hold the pad and use it to move the car I was using. I didn't struggle to get it but I sure did struggle to win. We played 5 games before I threw my legs up in celebration. I have a weird way of celebrating I should work on that really.
