Eve chuckled and rewinded the video a minute back again.

"It was a minor matter. It's rare to see you this invested in something outside of your work," Victor said, absentmindedly rubbing circles in her shoulder.

They sat cuddled together on the couch in their apartment, but Eve could tell that Victor's thoughts were kilometres away. His eyes were turned towards the tablet Eve held, but there was the same glazed look Eve sometimes saw him getting when he got into the minds of too many animals at once.
