Chapter 50
(Unedited)
…
Black smoke slowly rises from the woman's body as it quickly covered a few meters around her. The entire entrance of the building is now covered in smoke and visibility is almost zero.
I could not use my nose to find my target as I could tell that the smoke has toxins in them that could cause hallucination. I would not dare to test my resistance in this critical moment, so I decided to hold my breath.
I instead use my hearing to try and find my enemy who is lurking in the dark.
Swoosh!!!
The sound of a knife whistling through the air was picked up by my sense and quickly dodges its brutal strike.
I quickly shifted my stance to the left and dodge the strike. However, it seems that the woman is really good at using the knife, as she is able to change its direction at a critical moment.
Though I was able to dodge it, the knife's tip was still able to reach my shirt and cause it to be torn.
"Hmm… Very fast reflexes... This should not be boring." She said but I could not find her voice as it echoed through the smog.
The woman suddenly made another move and as soon as she did, I could hear the slight whistling sound of the blade and dodge it by a hair's breadth.
But as soon as I dodge, I could feel the tip of the blade tearing through my clothes. It's like the tip of the knife could extend and I have to adjust my dodging distance.
The woman did not stop attacking and soon, my shirt is now full of lacerations.
"Hihi… Do you feel a bit weak? As you struggle, your body would become weaker and you will feel more pain. Why not surrender and get killed by me. That way, your pain would be quicker…" she suddenly said.
I know that this confidence of hers comes from the toxins she has in the air and also on her knife. Every time the knife makes contact with my skin, I could see a flashing warning in my eyes saying 'toxin contact'.
But since it could not penetrate my skin, it did not work.
However, I need to breathe in some air as I have been holding my breath for a while now.
With that decision in mind, I suddenly darted to the right and quickly reached a door in the corridor. I slammed through the door, but the smoke around me still followed me.
"Damn it! This woman could also follow my speed?" I thought as I could not understand how she is able to reach me at such a speed.
I gritted my teeth as I suddenly lay down on the ground. Then I could not control myself and began to cough.
…
Tan Failee watches within the smoke as she is already prepared to deal the final blow. But then she suddenly saw the young man falling to the floor while coughing profusely. This made her elated and a confident smirk appears on her face.
She knew that her toxins are already working and that her target is already down for the kill.
"I told you that if you surrender then I would not make it harder for you. But no… you must struggle helplessly… Hahaha… Just like all the people I have killed so far. You all scream and struggle to survive, in the end, you all fall at the tip of my knife… Hihi…"
The woman said as she suddenly came out from the smoke and slowly walks closer to the coughing young man lying on the floor.
She retracted her knife and then pulled out her silenced handgun.
"It's a pity, I was really curious how strong you are… But… I would say, I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting a bit of… struggle, you know…" she said as she slowly directed the handgun towards Xin Wei's hand.
As she slowly squeezes the trigger, the eyes of Xin Wei glinted. The coughing stopped and he just lowered his head.
Suddenly, Tan Failee felt like there is a dangerous viper looking at her. The intense killing intent almost suffocated her; however, she could not determine where it came from.
As she looks at the man lying on the ground, she just gave a slight sneer.
"Struggling to the bitter end…" she said as she suddenly squeezes the trigger.
Outside the building, the figure of Fang Hai is standing behind the truck with a high-caliber sniper rifle in his hand.
He uses the thermal scope of the rifle to watch what is happening inside that room. If that person on the ground would make a wrong move, he would quickly press the trigger.
Suddenly, a couple of flashes of light appear in his sight and he shook his head.
"She did really kill him. What a dangerous woman…" he said as he shakes his head and retracted his sigh.
He already knew what would happen next, so he decides to wait while looking at the entrance. The smoke covering the entire entrance of the building slowly rescinded as he gestured for the other armed men around him.
"Clean up the area and bring all the corpses with us. I need the target's corpse in a separate bag…" he said as he sat calmly on the passenger's seat of the truck and lit his cigarette.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
As soon as he used the lighter he was immediately startled by a couple of gunshots. As if by reflex, he suddenly dodges to the ground while getting his rifle at the ready in an instant.
When he landed on the ground he rolled and quickly lifted the high caliber sniper rifle and pointed it to the source of the gunshot.
Then suddenly his eyes went wide in disbelief upon seeing that the men sitting behind the truck are already lifeless with their brain matters splashed all over the place.
"Damn, damn!" he muttered as he tried to search for his opponent.
But no matter how hard he tries to find his target, he could see no one. He could only see the traces of the lifeless bodies on the truck and inside the building.
Sweat began to form on his forehead as he suddenly remembers Tan Failee. When his scope reaches the room she was in, he immediately saw her lifeless body on the thermal scope. But what made his hair stand on end is that her body is actually missing its head.
"Shit! Shit! What the hell happened?!" he muttered in panic.
He knew that he became careless at that time. But he clearly saw her shooting the target two times, how could it happen that she was the one who was killed?
His mind could not grasp the situation and this caused him to panic more. After looking around and seeing that the enemy is not present, he quickly ran to the jeep in front and then drags the dead driver sitting on the driver's seat.
He is still alert as he looks around while gripping tightly the handgun in his hand.
After assessing that there are no people around, he quickly started the car and while still vigilant he shifted the gear and speed through the streets.
While he is escaping, a figure is standing on top of a building's roof on the opposite side of the road. Xin Wei is now wearing the visor that the woman was using a while ago after he decapitated her head.
He let her shot his hand but with a quick movement made her miss them. Before she could react, he has already reached for her knife and uses it to cut off her head.
The action was very fast, that she did not even have time to blink before everything happened in a flash.
…
"I guess, I am really immune to any toxins…" I muttered as I recalled everything that happened.
I clearly breathe in some of the toxic air. But I saw the flash in my vision and it showed what I have been hoping for… 'Toxin Ineffective'
But of course, I'm not that crazy to try more toxins or poison in my body, I'm not some kind of crazy masochist to suffer such torture. Even the thought of it makes me shiver.
But this time, I have to follow this person. I need him to lead me to the base of these people. Instead of going around and traveling, this is my best and quickest bet.
I heard from that guy Wan Fang that the Hunters belong to the Syndicate, and their drop-off point is the Black Serpent Gang's base. So if I could go to the Black Serpent Gang, then I could easily find the location of the Dancing Swan Bar where Lin Ting usually stays.
With my goal set, my heart starts to beat wildly as I know that the time to meet one of my enemies is at hand.
The time for my revenge is about to start.
