All She Had Left

Delilah limped her way down the corridors of the hospital with fire in her eyes. Even though she was limping and did not appear as though she could physically hurt anyone, she had an intimidating aura that caused everyone to naturally move out of her way.

A moment ago, Tiffany had told her explosive news: the best friend that she had kept by her side for 14 years had been lying to her for over a decade! A decade! It was such a long amount of time that a word had to be created for it! How could Sam do that to her?

She rushed into the hospital cafeteria and threw open the doors to the kitchen. She quickly scanned her eyes across the kitchen and located the storeroom.

"Did you say they were in there?" Delilah asked the surprised Tiffany next to her. Even though Tiffany expected Delilah to be shocked, she didn't expect her to look for Sam and expose him on the spot.

Looking at her best friend, she nodded her head uncomfortably. It had already been half an hour since she was here. Perhaps...they were gone by now...

But, to her surprise, when Delilah opened the storeroom door, Sam and Sumi were still huddled together passionately, unwilling to let go.

Sam and Sumi stopped and looked toward the door in surprise. They were sure that no other staff were returning to the kitchen until later that day. Who had just opened the door?

When Sam's eyes fell upon Delilah, horror immediately appeared in his gaze. "Dels!" he exclaimed as he quickly tried to cover any exposed parts of Sumi's body.

Delilah scoffed. Even at a time like this, he was trying to protect the woman. Clearly, she was more than just a curious experiment. He genuinely liked her...

"What's going on..." Delilah growled between gritted teeth.

Sam stuttered a little, "I..."

He lowered his head in guilt. He had been criticizing Delilah for being selfish, but he realized at this moment, that he wasn't any better. The sense of betrayal in Delilah's eyes was obvious.

"I didn't know how to tell you..." he finally mumbled.

Delilah shook her head in disappointment. "You didn't know how to tell me?!

"For 10 entire years, there wasn't a single moment where you could have brought this up?"

Sam sighed, "I was afraid..."

"Afraid of what?" Delilah asked persistently.

"I was afraid that we wouldn't be friends anymore..."

Delilah scoffed when she heard this. She rolled her eyes and looked at the sky in disbelief. "Well...you're right..." she finally said.

Grabbing Tiffany's arm and walking out of the storeroom, she left behind one last sentence: "Sam Ting...we aren't friends anymore."

Delilah couldn't believe it. For 10 years, Sam had lied to her about being gay. He told her it was difficult to tell her, yet he managed to tell Sumi the truth so quickly. For 10 years, she had confided in him about everything; she had even told him about some very intimate matters. She also trusted him so much that she had changed in front of him. Even though he saw models changing in front of him every day, she was different. She wasn't a model. How could he let her do that without saying anything?

But, of course, the most important thing was, the kiss they shared when she first discovered he was gay... The kiss that she told him she was analyzing for his sake... That was her first kiss...

For some reason, she just really wanted to kiss him at that time, and she had found the perfect excuse. But, even to this day, no other kiss had ever compared. Perhaps...that was why she had never been in a serious relationship; no other man could compare to her best friend. So, she decided to search for other things in a partner rather than love and attraction; money and status were more reliable.

Delilah felt her heart break a little when she thought about this.

All these years, there were multiple times when she looked at Sam and wondered how things would be like if he wasn't gay. She never told anyone, not even Tiffany, but there were moments when her heart had fluttered a little. However, she suppressed those feelings because she knew it was impossible. She even acted like she was interested in other guys in front of him just so he wouldn't notice how she felt.

Who knew he had been doing the exact same thing...

How ridiculous...

If he had told her the truth earlier, perhaps things would be very different right now.

Perhaps, he was right. If he had told the truth, they would have stopped being friends.

Perhaps...they would have stopped being friends...and become a couple...

A couple that understood each other well and could talk about anything...

But instead...they had now returned to being strangers...

Clenching her fists as she walked back to her room, she furrowed her brows. [I already lost Sam. I can't lose Lucas as well. Never!]

Lucas was all she had left...

...

At the same time, over at the police station, Noah stared into Officer Wilson's eyes and said, "Lucas was all I had left... I couldn't let that woman steal him from me."

Officer Wilson stared at the man in disbelief, "So you're saying...you killed Anqing Qu?"

"She and Lucas Lee killed me first!" Noah exclaimed. "If not for them, I wouldn't have killed myself!!"

Officer Wilson looked at the man and tried to remain calm. This was the first time he had encountered something like this. It was much too strange. "I take that as a yes. In that case, Noah... No, I mean, Nova...can you explain how you killed Anqing Qu?"
