Deforestation

I awoke the next day quite early in the morning, feeling extremely tired. The reason for that was the application process for U.A. high school, which was, in short, the worst thing I have ever had to do. It is an arduous process composed of completely idiotic chores. Combined with the website, which somehow felt like actual feces compressed into data made the process a gruelling one. Luckily, it paid off in the end, as expected to be at the entrance exams, which start in January. Since it was now the end of December, I had about a week left to prepare, which was more than enough.

After having a hearty breakfast, the first thing I did was pull out my newly acquired smartphone, open g@@gle maps, and search for forests in my area. The reason for that was simple: I needed a place to train with my powers, and a forest was the perfect place. With ample cover from prying eyes and plenty of targets, It would suffice for now.

Approximately an hour later, I left the city of Musutafu, and, donning my favourite white and gold tracksuit, I started sprinting towards my destination. After ten minutes of continuous running at a tempo that could rival top athletes of my previous world, I noticed I had yet to shed a drop of sweat. It seemed monstrous stamina was a perk of divinity and a well-appreciated one at that.

However, while not physically tiring, continuous sprinting was still taxing on the mind. So, after about ten more minutes, I stopped, opened my hand, and concentrated. Almost Immediately after, a characteristic golden ripple appeared, from which emerged a pair of golden bracers. I immediately put them on before closing my eyes and concentrating. A few moments later, I started to levitate, and pretty soon, I was about 60 meters in the air.

"YES! It worked!" I celebrated loudly. Thankfully, my celebrations did not affect my flight.

I did not know if this was going to work. From what I knew, Gilgamesh had an Item that allowed him to fly, though it was unnamed, and no one knew how it looked. So I just willed for an Item that could make me fly, and the bracers appeared. The convenience of my power was off the charts.

The ability of flight was very convenient. Pretty soon, I was hovering above a forest that spanned for several kilometres. While this newly found playground was not enough to test some of the more powerful treasures within my collection, it would easily allow me to get a feel for my powers and cause a good deal of destruction in the process.

After flying above the forest for a few minutes, I noticed an open chunk of land, so that's where I landed. I performed a set of stretches customary before every workout before taking a ready stance.

Picking one of the large trees before me as my first target, I willed for a single golden ripple to appear above my right shoulder. A sword emerged from the gate, locked and loaded, ready to be fired at any moment. With but a thought, I aimed it at my unfortunate target.

I smirked.

"Fire."

FWOOM

BOOM!

The sword shot forth with monstrous speed, going cleanly through the first tree and piercing many more, before finally colliding with the ground with an explosion that shook the earth and felled many more trees.

"Ok, that was a bit too strong. I should probably go weaker," I said, a wry smile on my face. I merely intended to pierce the tree in front of me, but who would've expected I would blow up half the forest instead? I hurriedly ran towards the scene, and there stood the culprit. Like a tale of legend, within a giant crater stood alone sword stuck in the ground, almost haughtily, as if unaware of the destruction it had caused. Unfortunately for it, this powerful weapon, like countless others, was but mere fodder before me. With a thought, the sword dissipated, returning to my vault, where it awaited further use.

"Ok, so if I lower the power a tad bit and go ham with the quantity, that should be pretty fun." And so I did. Countless golden gates emerged around me, and without a word, I loosed a barrage of weapons upon the environment. for the next day, within the forest, countless explosions shook the land as a maniac laughed in the background, satisfied with the destruction he was causing. Those who were in the woods that day would go on to tell haunting tales to future generations. Tales of the forest demon, who rained hellfire upon the earth as he laughed menacingly, uncaring for the mere mortals who lived here.

I continued my training for a whole week. Every day, from sunrise till sunset, I would fly to the forests and test the limits of my power. I discovered many items within my collection, some of which took honest effort to control. During one of my sessions, I pulled out a sword called Sul-Sagana, a flaming sword that burns as it cuts. Before I realized what was happening, I had already started a forest fire. Thankfully, I managed to pull out a weapon that created ice. It extinguished the fire, but it also froze everything. It took careful control of my treasures for everything to turn back to a semi-normal state. Such occurrences happened daily, and the more I understood and controlled my arsenal, the stronger I grew. A week was not enough to know every weapon by heart, but neither was any period of time, as my arsenal was virtually infinite. By the end of my training session, I was confident I was in control of every action and was without a doubt the strongest individual on the planet. And I was just in time because it was finally here! The entrance exams to U.A. high school had arrived!
