// THIS IS AN OLD CHAPTER. THE NEW CHAPTERS ARE IN VOLUME 2. YOU CAN READ THESE CHAPTERS IF YOU WANT SOME INSIGHT ON WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN LATER BUT SOME EVENTS CAN BE DIFFERENT BETWEEN THE OLD AND NEW CHAPTERS.
Five days later, I'm in the great hall having breakfast. Sitting next to me is of course Daphne, with whom my relationship has greatly improved, but also Draco and Pansy who are plotting some dirty trick against Potter. They've grown awkwardly closer during the last few days thanks to their mutual hatred of Harry.
"You saw Potter's face when he saw the 'die Potter' written in the lake." Pansy is hilarious but personally, I'm worried about the lack of news from the headmaster of Ilvermorny. My new wand was supposed to arrive yesterday and yet I received nothing. I keep an eye on the arrival of owls as I eat.
"Sean, do you want to go to Hogsmeade with me the day after tomorrow? We could go to the tearoom, what do you think?" The tearoom is the meeting point for Hogwarts young couple on every authorized Hogsmeade outing.
"Why not? Other than looking for new ideas for inventions, I don't have much to do." I hesitate between books that would be engraved in the memory when you read them or a kind of flying skateboard to replace the brooms.
"Awesome! I can't wait to be there." She puts a strand of hair back behind her ear and smiles flaunting her white teeth. Um, that's not a bad idea, a tooth whitening potion. I could make a fortune from people's lack of confidence in their own appearance.
"Oh well, I'm pretty happy to go get my dose of sugar from Honeydukes." Daphne frowns.
"We will especially stay warm in this tearoom and we will only leave to go back to the castle. That way everyone will have plenty of time to see who you spend your afternoon with."
"Too bad about the love apple I wanted to give you, it will be more for me I guess." Daphne blushed before punching my shoulder. I can see she put some strength into it, but I didn't feel it at all, and I can't help but laugh at her.
"Dumbass" she sticks her tongue out at me.
"Grumpy" I ruffle her hair.
Without my realizing it, all the attention of the Slytherin table was fixed on us and I can see several older students putting on mocking smirks.
But suddenly, the door to the Great Hall opens, letting in two men in black suits and coats who are walking straight towards Dumbledore. One of them is holding a small box in his arms. Once in front of Dumbledore, they hand him a letter with the seal of MACUSA and another one with the seal of Ilvermorny. He opens the letters and quickly reads through them before turning his attention towards the Slytherin table.
"SEAN BONES" He doesn't look angry but rather exasperated.
I get up and when the two MACUSA agents spot me, they walk towards me with confidence before handing me the box.
"With regards from headmaster Marrow." They turn on their heels and leave without saying anything more.
I open the box to find inside a small rectangular shiny black box resting on four golden feet. Everyone in the great room was curious to see what was in the strange package delivered by the agents of a foreign government.
In the small box is my new wand that I was so impatiently waiting for, Salazar Slytherin's wand! As I remove it from its box to display it for all to see, Hermione at the Ravenclaw table breaks my glorious moment.
"But it's Salazar Slytherin's wand! I thought it was buried under a tree in Ilvermorny." Hermione said it so loudly that everyone started to whisper in the great hall.
All of the Slytherin students stand up to come and see the wand up close, as well as some professors curious to see the wand of one of the founders of Hogwarts. But everyone is asked to calm down by Dumbledore.
"Everyone be calm. Mr. Bones, please come with me to my office." I follow Dumbledore as he leads me past the statue that guards his office.
"Fizwizbiz" The stairs begin to move to lead us straight to the headmaster's office. Inside it I find Fawkes, Dumbledore's phoenix, quietly sitting on its perch. I take a seat in a chair in front of the desk and Dumbledore sits heavily in his chair in front of me.
"So, professor, tell me. How can I help you?"
"Well first of all, do you want a sherbet lemon?" I shake my head and Dumbledore seems to be saddened for a second before recovering. "No? Too bad. Could you explain to me why this dear Ephthalius is sending you Salazar's wand when he has been refusing to return it to Hogwarts for years?" I raise an eyebrow, who does he think he is to believe that a family legacy would belong to Hogwarts because it would have belonged to one of its founders?
"Because it doesn't belong to Hogwarts but to my family? For generations, it was passed from one descendant of Salazar to another. Ilvermorny just agreed to give it back to me because I agreed to be transferred at the end of this school year or the next. " Dumbledore looks a bit panicked when I tell him I'm about to leave.
"I would really like you to think about it a little longer. Hogwarts has the reputation of being a very good school."
"Sadly, it only has the reputation, and that's due in large part to your presence rather than the quality of the classes! Between the trolls wandering the hallways, the dementors invading the Quidditch grounds, the defense against the dark arts professor who gets arrested in the middle of a meal, the former potions teacher who did not want to teach, and the almost total lack of diversity in the subjects compared to other schools. To tell you the truth, Hogwarts lost its title of the best school in the world a long time ago " Dumbledore suddenly looks like he's taking another ten years all at once when I remind him of all the problems his school has had to face in the past three years.
"Sean, I can't tell you anything yet, but you absolutely have to trust me and stay at Hogwarts. The safety of our world depends on it!"
