Meeting Lance and Lorelai

Axel had 8 pseudo-king rank Pokemons. 

1. Shedinja

2. Charizard

3. Nidorino

4. Beedrill

5. Mamoswine

6. Alakazam

7. Steelix

8. Gogoat

All of them were pseudo-king rank Pokemons. It was a massive achievement for any trainer to have so many pseudo-king rank Pokemons in such a short period of time.

Soma started to check them and realized that none of them were opposing Axel's order. 

"Are there any more tests?"

"Ah… there are none. You would get your certificate now."

"Really? I had to fight with some of your staff to get the advanced trainer certificate."

"It is just a formality. You don't have to do it. I would get you your certificate.", said Soma and she hurriedly went out of the stadium.

'Who would fight with a monster like you?', she thought. She didn't have the strength to show her professional face towards Axel. She was very much surprised by Axel's Pokemons. 

All of them were very powerful. They didn't look like they had just ranked up. How could a trainer be so powerful?

Axel finally got his master's rank certificate. A normal trainer would have been very happy but Axel didn't show any such emotions. It was just a certificate for him. 

"I also want to register for the league.", said Axel.

"Of course, you would. Follow me.", said Soma and he followed her to a small room. 

"Please give me your card again and send out all of your Pokemon."

Axel did the same and Soma was surprised again that he had a total of 13 Pokemons and none of them were weak. 

"I would now have to take your photo. Please stand straight.", said Soma. 

She took the pictures and registered him for the league battle. 

"The league battle would start after 8 months. Be prepared for it. There is a list of things you need to know before the start of the league battle. They would be sent to you in your mail.

You are now officially registered for the league battle."

Axel completed all the procedures and finally came out of the building. His phone started to ring and he saw 5 messages from Lance, 2 messages from Lorelai, and 9 missed calls from Lance. 

Tring.. Tring.. Tring.. Tring… 

"Hey Axel, where are you right now?", asked Lance.

"I just registered myself for the league battle. Where are you?"

"Oh, what is why your phone is out of reach."

"What do you mean?"

"Axel, you are inside the building of kanto league. Do you really think that anyone can call you there? Kanto league is one of the most protected places in the whole world. 

Anyways, me and Lorelai are going to a restaurant. I will send you the details. Let's meet there."

"Yes, I will come there, as fast as I can."

Lance gave him a big bear hug and Lorelai shook his hand. Axel felt that it had been a long time since he met them but it had only been a few months. Lance and Lorelai were also thinking the same thing. 

They went inside the restaurant and booked a private room.

"So, how are you, Axel? I feel that it has been a long time since we met.", said Lance.

"Well, I feel the same too. It is weird, isn't it?"

"Yes, it definitely is weird.", said Lorelai. 

"So, you finally got all the 8 gym badges huh? I just can't believe it.", said Lance sighing. He and Axel were of the same age but Axel had gone to far away now. 

"How many gym badges have you won?", asked Axel.

"5 of them. I finally have 3 pseudo-king rank Pokemons now. Most of my Pokemon have ranked up to elemental rank but I am still far from you. I plan to challenge other gyms after some time.", said Lance.

"What about you, Lorelai?"

"I have 5 elemental rank Pokemons now. However, I only have 1  pseudo-king rank Pokemon, unlike Lance. Enough about us, how many pseudo-king rank Pokemon do you have right now?", asked Lorelai.

When Axel said how many pseudo-king rank Pokemon he had, Lance spit his drink and Lorelai started to cough out loudly. It was an instant reaction.

"WHAT??? 8 of them? Dude, do you even sleep? How can you have so many pseudo-king rank Pokemons?", asked Lance.

"You already know my answer, Lance."

"Yes, you work harder than us. But we are also not sitting duck. After you went on and became the leader for handling the tide, we were brutally punished by our families.", said Lance.

"What happened?", asked Axel.

"Every one of us had to participate in the tide. Not only me and Lorelai. But every genius in the world had to do it. Even Steven and Cynthia did it. Right now most of us hate us to the bone."

"How is that my fault? I didn't want to be part of the tide. I was forced to do it. And the decisions of your family are not my responsibility.", said Axel.

"Even then, I am just warning you. I and Lorelai are your friends so we don't think like that but some of the geniuses do.", said Lance. 

The food came and they started to eat. They started to talk in between. It had been a long time since they had met. After the expedition, Axel had done and achieved a lot of things. 

"By the way, why are you registering for the league battle? Even if you win that, you would not be able to defeat Elite 4 or the champion.", asked Lorelai. 

"This is just for practice. I know that I cannot win against them but if I were to just sit back and relax, I would never work harder. I would also get the idea of the power of the elite 4 and champion.", said Axel.

"You talk as if you are sure to win the league battle. Remember Axel, there are a lot of trainers that have failed the league battles before. These past trainers who are more older and experienced than you would also participate. 

So, you have to be careful.", said Lance.

Axel knew about this. But these were the only people who had failed or lost the league battle. The winner of the league battle would not have to participate in the league battle. 

They would fight separately. 

First, there would be a league battle where all the trainers who have 8 badges of Kanto region would compete. There would be a lot of rounds and the winner of the league battle would compete against the past winners of the league battle who had failed to win against Elite 4. 

Then the winner of that stage would battle Elite 4. If you were able to win against Elite 4, you would move to the next stage where would battle past winners of Elite 4. When you win against them, you would then finally battle against the Champion. 

League battles happened once every 2 years, Elite 4 battle happened once every 3 years and the champion battle was once every 4 years. 

It was a long process to become a champion but if you won against the champion, you would be the next champion of the region.

Since Axel would be participating in league battles, he would fight with those who had never won the league battle. So, none of them would have a king-rank Pokemon. 

Axel was confident that he would have at least 1 King rank Pokemon during that time.

"I can win in the league battle if I have a king-rank Pokemon by that time.", said Axel.

"Oho, you are so confident that you could have a king-rank Pokemon by that time? Axel, the power difference between a pseudo-king rank Pokemon and a King rank Pokemon is very huge. So obviously it would take a huge amount of time to rank them up. You do know that right?", asked Lance. 

"I do know that but I am determined to have at least 1 king-rank Pokemon by that time."

8 months were left for Axel to have a team of King rank Pokemons. Lance was correct about it. It would take a huge amount of time for a Pokemon to rank up from pseudo-king rank to king rank. His Pokemons had been in the pseudo-king rank stage for quite some time now. 

Even if it was difficult to do it, he believed that Steelix may reach king rank during that time. Steelix was the closest Pokemon to reach King rank right now. He didn't say any of these things to Lance and Lorelai but he was now even more determined to become stronger. 

"Have you heard about a guy named Brine?", asked Axel.
