Rising up

It had been a week since Axel had come to his home. In these 7 days, he didn't do anything except for spending time with his family. No training, no battles, and no research. His mother would have a baby after a month. He was excited to meet his new sibling.

His family was surprised that he had gone through so much. He had not told them about the tide cause he didn't want them to worry. Arron even called Oak to question him. Thankfully, Oak was calm and was able to convince him that it was for the betterment of Axel.

During the tide, he was busy with work, giving orders, and fighting the wild Pokemon but when he stepped to his home, all of the killings and war hit him at the same time. He was dealing with severe mental trauma. This world did not have a psychiatrist but if there was one, he would be visiting them every day.

Oak had told him to take as much time as he wants until he felt better.

"Axel, come down for breakfast.", shouted his mother.

Axel stood from the bed and went to the kitchen. Everyone was present. Axel didn't talk much and just took a toast and milk and sat on the chair.

Axel's nature had changed a lot after the tide. He was not making jokes or any sarcasm now. He looked more mature and serious.

"Brother, are you coming today?", asked Agnes.

Axel looked at her asking what was she talking about.

"Huh.. You forgot? You told me that you would help me train Dratini today."

"Oh yes, I did say that."

"Agnes, don't pressure your brother like that.", said his mother.

"It's okay Mom. I will help you train Dratini today. By the way, how is your training going on with Slowpoke, uncle.", asked Axel.

"It is going really well. I don't think that I have seen any Pokemon grow that faster. It's only been a month but it had learned multiple moves and its body is getting stronger too.", said his uncle. He was proud of his Slowpoke.

Within 1 month it had learned, 'Earthquake', 'Water pulse', 'Confusion' and 'Psychic'. His uncle was fully concentrating on Slowpoke's growth.

The reason for its growth was Axel's talent 'Overgrowth' and 'Elemental overgrowth'. Since his uncle had not technically caught Slowpoke, it was still considered to be the Pokemon of the forest and Axel's talent would imply to those Pokemons.

After breakfast, he looked at Dratini's progress. It was doing good but not to his standard. He gave some tips to Agnes and the combination of the moves that could be used and told much about the battle strategy. Agnes wanted to become like him in the future so she had to concentrate on her Pokemon's character and battle strategy.

Alakazam had taken a liking to Slowpoke and it also trained it for some time. Axel had transferred the Arbok to Oak's laboratory. He didn't want to see Arbok right now. It would remind him of the tide and he was doing everything to forget about it.

After playing with Agnes and helping her train Dratini, Axel went to his room again. Today he wanted to study those 4 books gifted by Giovanni.

After the gym battle with Giovanni, he gifted Axel 5 books. Those books were personal experiences of Giovanni and they were valuable. Axel had completed 1 of those books which was about abilities and hidden abilities.

The book had blown his mind and he came to realize some of the mistakes that he had done.

While staying here, Axel had planned to complete all 5 of those books and today he was going to study about 'Foundation.'

Axel finished the book till evening. Like the previous book, it was not very long or thick. It was only around 30 pages.

This book focused on the foundation of the Pokemon in the early stages. The book mainly describes how important it was to have a good foundation. One of the main reasons why Pokemon could not rank up to elemental rank was the lack of their foundation.

Axel started to realize how important a good foundation was. But he had nothing to learn in this book. The book went into detail on how to have a good foundation but Axel's methods were far superior.

He had got a book from Mew that covered the foundation part.

The book also focused on saying that a trainer should focus more on the foundation rather than the evolution of the Pokemon. The more time it took to evolve or rank up, the better it was.

Axel could say that it was true. The evolution or rank-up extension had made his Pokemon a lot stronger than their normal counterpart. It was a good read and he decided to pick another book tomorrow.

Next day,

Today he was going to focus on 'Evolution and Rank up'. He was interested in the new things that he would learn today. He knew how to evolve and rank up to King rank but after that, he had no knowledge.

The book took around 4 hours to complete and Axel had to note down many important points.

He first read up on evolution and rank up to rare rank. There was not much to talk about. He knew all of the details. The book said that a Pokemon's power was compared when they reach rare rank.

This was cause of the Pokemon themselves. Some of them have 3 evolution stages like Charizard but some of them didn't even have an evolution. But when a Pokemon reaches rare rank they grow more powerful.

The elemental rank was the first big hurdle for a Pokemon. Not all Pokemons could reach this rank. The main reason was the foundation of Pokemons.

Some trainers try to evolve them a lot faster than they should using items like leaf stone and thunder stone. This would let them draw out their infinity energy and forcefully evolve them which would result in having a bad foundation.

When a Pokemon ranks up to an elemental rank, they transcend to a higher form. Their body cells could absorb more infinity energy and they could also manipulate them to a certain extent.

"Axel, breakfast is ready.", shouted his mother in the middle of reading the book.

He knew he could not question her and just went to the kitchen.
