Leigh walked into Mr. Ryckle's office and sat down. She still wasn't used to the cane, and had no idea what to do with it. She ended up holding it flat across her knees.
"Ah, Mrs. Dalrymple," Mr. Ryckle said, "It's good to see you moving better. I wanted to go over the year-end review. The Board is taking their duties very seriously now and has asked to have a representative at all these meetings. If you are comfortable with that we will proceed."
"I don't have a problem with it." Leigh vaguely remembered meeting the woman who sat to the side. Perhaps she was on the team that interviewed her for the job.
"Very well." Mr. Ryckle opened his file and pulled out a sheet of paper. "You filled this out very conscientiously; I appreciate that as it makes my job easier." He looked at the paper and shuffled it nervously. Leigh got the impression this was as hard for him as it was for her.
