Friends?

The drive back to the Estate was very quiet and awkward making it seem like an endless drive.

Yun didn't even look at her. He knew she was sad about not bidding for the item but he was more pissed. He wasn't even really angry that they had both wasted their time there since she hadn't invited him to follow her in the first place but he was pissed because of her attitude.

He was aware she hadn't asked for anything he had done for her, but shouldn't she be a little grateful and appreciative at least?

He was done playing around with her. It was time to be serious now and get back to his life and work. It was time to stop concerning himself with her business.

For the first time since they got into the car, he quickly glanced at her. As expected, she looked really down with her head resting on the window.

She couldn't believe she had wasted her entire night just like that. Worse of all, her parents were probably at home already. How was she going to tell them she had gone to help her mother bid for a necklace when she didn't even get to buy it?

She was at least thankful for Wang Yun. She was glad he had been there and was also taking her home. She didn't know how she would have survived the night without him.

She turned her head to look at him and noticed how his entire facial muscles were rigid. He was probably angry with her. She would have been mad at herself if she was someone else.

"Vice President Wang Yun?" She called almost silently but he also spoke at the same time.

"I apologize for interfering in your business." He started..

"Let's just return to our different homes and lives from now on. This will be the very last time I interfere in your business." He said with his gaze on the road.

Lijuan frowned in confusion, having not knowing what he was saying or where it was all coming from.

"What... are you talking about?" She asked in confusion.

There was a small silence before he spoke again..

"It seems I keep going out of my way to do a lot for you yet you do not appreciate and neither do you hesitate to give me the 'I never asked for your help' attitude. So I think it's best I mind my own business beginning from now.." He said as he pulled over in front of her apartment.

"I... never gave you that attitude neither do I not appreciate your effort." She said in a very low voice as she looked at him sadly.

Yun smirked and shook his head lightly. "Well, it doesn't matter anymore. Let whatever is between us end now. Whenever you find my pen, you know how to reach me. I really hope we do not keep crossing paths like this." He waited for her to get down but she continued to stare at him with... sad eyes?

Okay, she didn't have any right to give him that look especially when she had been the one treating him like an intruder all along.

"Good night..." He said to remind her she was supposed to be getting down.

"So..." She swallowed hard before continuing..  "You don't want to see me anymore?" She asked in a very low voice.

She didn't know whether she was simply sounding like that because she was weak and tired or because she was sad with how everything turned out or probably because she was being emotional.

He looked at her for a bit before nodding slowly. "That practically sums it up." He answered.

"So... you are saying it's over between us?" She asked again..

He looked at the window by his in disbelief and gave a short laugh before turning to look at her again..

"Was there ever anything between us?"

"There was!" She fired at him.

"You played along with my lie about dating you, you bought me flowers and took me out on my birthday, you came for me at the club and called me your girlfriend, you also took me to your place that night and allowed me stay till I could return home. You also came for me tonight and waited till now." She paused to catch her breath.

"I thought.... I thought we were friends..." She added sadly.

Friends? Were they friends? He asked himself as he continued to look at her.

"You should start going in now.. your sisters are watching outside." He said to her in a quiet voice.

Lijuan looked at the door and noticed her sisters standing there. Her parents were home after all.. What an adventurous night!

"I'm sorry if I seemed ungrateful, I'm sorry for wasting your time too. Thanks for your help so far." She told him.

Yun didn't know what to say and neither did he understand why she was suddenly sounding so humble so he just kept quiet.

Slowly, she opened the door and after looking at him one more time, she got down from the car.

"Good...." She tried to add the 'night' to complete it, but it couldn't seem to get past her throat so she only nodded to him and he did same.

She stood there after closing the door and contined to stare. He also didn't drive away immediately and looked right back at her. It lasted for a minute before he sighed and drove off.

Her eyes followed his car as he head towards his own apartment.

For someone like her who didn't receive much love from people while growing up, how was she supposed to know how to love other people?

For someone like her who wasn't treated right by others, how was she supposed to know how well to treat other people?

To her, she was doing her best. But to Yun, she was probably the most insensitive person alive. Maybe it was best if they stayed away from each other.

Not everyone could understand her like Shan. But she also knew that wasn't an excuse. She needed to walk on herself and have a better attitude. She would do whatever it took to be the kind of person who was worthy of having a friend like Wang Yun and every other nice person out there.

But for now she would respect his wish and stay away from him. Not that she was the one going to him anyway, he was always the one coming to her.
