The Ninth Night - Part 2 - Hellish Flood

Underneath the rising flood that will give the Water Sentinel its form once the lunar eclipse takes place, Renir rampage through the "weak" and "feeble" water creatures.

There are two types of water creatures that Renir encountered: the vampire-like fish the appearance of bigger sardines just with sharp teeth and a big-jawed fish that will try to tear anyone's skins until one bled to death.

As always, they don't need but just want to kill Renir like every creature that spawned in Gantlet ever!

Both water creatures had the same translucent and slightly white color to them.

The vampire fishes were the majority of this big swarm of water creatures that surround Renir with the attempt to skin him.

However, Renir's tough skin was hard for the big-jawed fishes to tear it apart and can only leave a few scratches before getting stabbed by metallic claws and become an energy supplement.

With its accelerating speed, the Giganslik can only turn at a certain angle to stubbornly attack Renir again.

While it was busy accelerating, Renir was massacring every water creature he could catch.

However, they don't seem to decrease even with the onslaughter. But it was not a problem since it was an infinite supply of energy for our protagonist, was what in his thoughts...

Renir was about to question his humanity from massacring these "poor" fishes but he was stopped when sensed the "water jet" approaching him.

He looked from where it was coming so he swam to its perpendicular angle as fast as he can, leaving the water creatures.

A whirlpool forming was already on the back of his head so he swam far enough for the Giganslik's presence not to reach him.

Renir observed and saw that the Giganslik was still gaining speed, 'What a monster!', he thought as he terrorized swarms of water creatures with his metallic claws, jaw and sharp teeth.

Truly, it was payback time because if the water creatures have emotions, it was their turn to fear. But they couldn't so they just swam to their deaths.

Fear shouldn't be seen as a disadvantage, Renir had a little enlightenment...

He felt his power slightly improve overtime as he chomped and chomped on these water creatures.

'It's not delicious or tasty but I like it!', he thought.

However, as time passed, the flood rose and Renir felt these water creatures were multiplying in numbers.

Although in his eyes they were small fries, Renir felt this was going to be a problem. As soon as he killed one, two will add to their numbers, and soon, these "small fries" were overcoming him.

'Damn!', Renir thought in frustration as a few water creatures were able to penetrate his defense, and eventually, several vampire fishes were sipping on his blood.

Once he successfully plucked one, two will add on his body. He felt like puking since it was as if he was drinking his own blood.

The vampire-like fishes were too much that he can actually feel the blood on his stomach.

Renir didn't like the ruthless feeling and disgust.

So he chose not to eat and just slashed at those that were already sipping on his blood, and simultaneously, eat those who were about to approach.

If he didn't simultaneously eat, then he wouldn't have the energy to regain his loss of blood. But still, the production for the loss of blood couldn't keep up.

Renir needed to escape from the swarm of vampires fishes to have time for his regeneration of blood to keep up.

Also, he needed air again. His blood was slowly relinquishing and he wasn't breathing. He doesn't understand yet how it works but because of it, he needed air more.

If only he can do those cool skills like in the video games then he could've had temporarily dispersed these swarms that blinded him just from their numbers.

His flailing and trying to push them wasn't working since he wasn't strong enough to create that "area of effect" attacks.

Renir's action was just needlessly slapping these water creatures as he flailed.

A nerve was about to pop from his forehead when he frustratingly needed air and the Giganslik was there in front him, of course, faster than before!

But from this, Renir gained this idea. So he did what he could to gain time as he slashed all that was sipping his blood while eating as much as he could.

These water creatures don't have a core but their whole translucent white being was energy, no, water energy by itself.

So instead of having a big belly from consuming too many water creatures, as soon as they go down to his throat, they dispersed into energy into Renir's whole body.

A bolt of lightning lit the clouded sky and Renir saw the Giganslik approaching.

However, he didn't escape in its perpendicular angle as he had done so earlier, but he simply waited and estimated the giant's accurate time of arrival.

While Renir's eyes were focused on the Giganslik, his hands were continuously slashing throughout his surroundings like a machine.

Then, he noticed that the Giganslik's speed acceleration was no more!

'It reached its maximum speed?!', Renir thought and decided to do as he planned.

The Giganslik's speed didn't let Renir suffer too long in the swarm of water creatures as it already arrived at a short distance from Renir within a few seconds from being far away.

Renir reacted with his quick reflex and flicked all his limbs to the Giganslik's perpendicular angle that produced a wave ripple.

Swoosh!*, just from his abrupt movement, few vampire-like fishes were pulled out of his skin but there were still many.

Renir had his face clenched from stress, worrying if he wasn't fast enough to evade at the last second.

However.... his plan had a little miscalculation. Renir was a bit too late and that bit had a huge impact.

As if he was late to pull out his foot on the trail tracks while running, the train swooshed and smashed his foot!

"Bluublubub!!', Renir anguished from pain as he felt even his bone was pulverized as he spun from the force he was hit.

But he was successful as the whole large swarm of water creatures was pulled in by the turbulent left by the jet-like Giganslik!

However, unfortunately for Renir, because of his injured left leg, he failed to escape from whirlpool along with the water creatures that made him swivel.

Blood was dispersing on the flood.

He was losing consciousness since he lost a mouthful of air when he anguished in pain and also due to his great loss of blood.

'Damn! Damn! Damn!', but Renir didn't give up!

Even if it was slow, he can effortlessly swim back up, but as he flapped his arms, he saw that the surfaced was farther than before.

The flood was ever-rising

"Blub!", Renir's sight was fading and because of his slow speed, the water creatures could easily reach him and swarm on him again.

'How?', while he could feel his body losing all of its blood, on the edge of his eyes he saw the Giganslik approaching.

Why was it faster than before? No, he just took too much time escaping from the whirlpool.

Renir, with all his might, flailed even his broken leg!

However, his consciousness was about to fade...

That was when the Giganslik was so near that Renir could actually see how big it was again.

'No...!', Renir didn't have a choice but did his last resort - he sacrificed his right leg...

Boom!* was the sound it emitted when his bone got crushed, not just a simple crack.

Like the time when he fell into the river filled with water slimes, he used the force that hit his leg back to the surface while trying not to get pull by the whirlpool by his own body swirling as he resurfaced.

The pain made him feel so alive that he was gradually stopped from losing his consciousness.

"HAAAHH---!", Renir heavily inhaled once he resurfaced and tears flowed from his eyes so incessantly that even the rainstorm couldn't wash it away.

When half of his body was above the water surface, the swarm of water creatures had a smaller area to attack so it lessened.

Renir noticed that the vampire-like fishes were ignoring the blood dispersing from his broken legs into the water and still biting him to drain for more.

"These slimy bastards didn't need blood in the first place!", his blood boiled as he shouted and desperately caught as many water creatures as he could to heal his broken legs, or else, he will waste another Bead of Revival.

Renir with his blood boiling pummeled his claws to these slimy bastards before continuing the plan to destroy the Giganslik.

However, while he was busy on his own, the flood rose until an abyss was formed on the lowest level where a new type of water creatures emerged.

That.... but that should be the lesser of his concern as the moon just needed a quarte more to descend the ninth time and the second lunar eclipse will occur...

The Water Sentinel awaits its revival.
