'Only defend for now while I explain' Al's husky voice said as I jumped to the side to avoid the wolf's lunge. I didn't reply but did as he told me, focusing on defense. The gigantic wolf swiped his paw down at my face, sending his long curly claws that glistened with a sharp gleam.
I blocked it with my scythe holding his claws at bay preventing it from shredding my body. Sweat rolled down my face, and I clenched my teeth. My legs were sightly shaking, but my grip on the scythe remained firm, neither the wolf nor I being pushed back. I realized that the wolf's fighting techniques were simple; he firstly lunged his tremendous body at his opponent then strike with his paw if both failed he would snap attempting to crush his opponent with his powerful jaws, so the problem lay in its overwhelming power not technique.
'First, you can recall the scythe even if you aren't touching it' Al told me
With that in mind I came up with an idea to get out of my current predicament, though the plan was reckless and if I wasn't fast enough, I would most likely die, I was willing to risk it. Using every bit of my strength, I pushed the wolf back far enough that I regained my mobility. I released my hold on the scythe, dropped to the ground and rolled away dust flying in my face. I slid my scythe across the forest floor at the same time.
"Death Scythe, Return from whence you came!" The scythe instantly returned to my finger and I recalled it again, holding it in my hand. "Al, can you hurry a bit, I'm gonna waste all my energy defending!"
'Okay, the power you gained was the power of blood manipulation' Al narrated to me while I dodged the wolf's persistent attacks. 'It's simple; just feel for the blood within you and when you accomplish that naturally you can do so for others, then what's left is to experiment with it' hearing his incomprehensible words it left me dumbstruck. He didn't believe I could understand any of that gibberish, right? Little did I know that Al was feeling proud of his 'easy-to-understand explanation.'
"Al! This isn't the time to be joking explain properly!" I screamed, panting as I just dodged another one wolf's bites, barely escaping his massive jaws.
'...' I could almost sense Al knitting his brow in confusion 'That's all there is to it, are you that dumb?' hearing his insult I felt as if a blood vessel was going to pop and my expression darkened.
"Al, a little more explanation please!" I said through grit teeth.
'..... You should be able to see it with your blood eye, try closing your blue one and feeling for the blood within yourself, how your blood pumps at each heart beat and the direction it's flowing, once that's done you should be able to make strands of blood from your body and even feel for the blood within others and manipulate it to your heart's content' I realized while listening to Al's long-winded explanation, he's a horrible teacher! I sighed, resigning myself to the fate of being taught by a pathetic teacher, and tried to do as he told me.
Once I closed my blue eye I started focusing on each of my heart beats and felt for the blood pulsing through my veins. Slowly but surely I saw or rather felt something fantastic. It was warm; it felt like a warm bath, almost; it was like I knew exactly where my blood was pumping, and it felt as though I had full control of that blood.
'Good, now try speeding up the blood flow rapidly then slowing it down'
I continued parrying the wolf as I did what he said and it astonished me to think what he said before about once you understand it you can manipulate it to your heart's content. 'Is this how water users feel?' I thought as I happily sped and slowed my blood flow.
'Once you've done that try taking some blood and molding it into a small thread and expelling it from your body it should be thin yet sharp, the thinness and sharpness depends on how well you can control it,'
"Won't I bleed to death from too much blood loss?"
'You may face that problem now but you can just fix that by making those strands by using the blood of others once you're strong enough you won't have to worry about blood loss'
