Chapter 1Beginning with the End

"So," Methan commented slowly. "Do I want to know what happened?"

"Probably not," the young man in front of him answer. "But as you have deduced, I am god and, yes, I am thinking of reincarnating you. However, the choice is still yours. You can always continue on with the normal flow of death if you wish."

"Wait a moment, can I ask how I died?"

"You don't remember?" god asked in astonishment.

"I can remember living and growing up, but it just suddenly ends," Methan admitted, confusion evident in his voice.

"Are you really sure that you want to know?" came the reluctant question. After receiving a nod, he continued. "You were run over."

"Is that all?" Methan asked, confused at the god's reluctance.

"Six times, but you only died after the last one hit the car in front and triggered a small explosion," the god explained with a blank expression.

Methan was suddenly really happy that he couldn't remember how he had died. Getting run over repeated before being incinerated sounded extremely painful.

"Continuing on, would you like to reincarnate into another world?"

"Why is this happening?" Methan asked curiously. Now that the mystery of his death had been solved, he could turn his thoughts to his current situation. "Does this happen for everyone?"

"Well no," the god admitted. "This is mostly happening because there is something connecting your soul to this other world. I can't be sure, because this is outside of my area of authority, but I think that there is someone that you need to meet over there."

"Well in that case, I guess that I had better go meet the , hadn't I?" Methan said with a kind smile.

"Good, in that case, I will send you off with my blessing then," the god said as he waved his hand in Methan's direction. "Do remember to have a good time and don't over do it this time."

Slowly opening his eyes, Methan looked up at the branches waving gently in the breeze. Blinking somewhat painfully, he attempted to sit up but ended up confused in the process. His memories of his were beginning to become somewhat foggy, but he was certain that he had been taller. Looking down, he found that his hands had shrunk as well.

Scrambling to his feet, he knelt by a nearby stream and gazed at his reflection in shock. Looking back at him was the face of a child that could only be described as beautiful. The soft, elegant curve of his face gave the impression of youth and energy. With delicate features, pale skin, and captivating green eyes, Methan had trouble looking away from his own face. All of this was topped with a shock of silvery, white hair. Just barely visible under the hair, he could make our the tips of carefully pointed ears.

"What happened?" he wondered, still captivated by the change in his appearance.

Looking back at where he had been laying, he noticed a satchel with a letter resting on top. Hoping for answers, he walked back and began to read the letter.

- 'So, I am assuming that you will be somewhat stunned by what has happened to you, so I have written this letter in the hopes of answering some of your questions. Firstly, regarding your age. It should have placed you at an age where you will have an easier time adapting to this world, while still being close enough in age to the soul that you are bound to to allow fairly easy interaction. This bag contains a supply of food, tools, and other amenities that will help you get set up. It is linked to a folded space that can be accessed by putting your hand in the bag and asking for what you need. The bag will also let you know what is stored inside, so don't worry.

Additionally, this is a world filled with magic and wonders that have been left undiscovered, but it can also be extremely dangerous. Because I would feel bad if you ended up dying as soon as you arrived, I made a few adjustments that will help you in the event of a fight. For further information, say 'status' and you can examine you abilities.

Oh, and I am the god in charge of life and death, Borrean. If you manage to find one of my temples, stop by so that we can have a chat.'

GlaringError here! As I have already mentioned in my author review I am restating it here since I am getting tons of comments about it, that I am more of a reader myself than a writer, I made this novel in an attempt to capture my fantasy world residing in my mind into words.. Writing is new for me.. The premise of my novel is inspired by many great works that I have loved over the years. And some elements I have in my novel that are slightly similar to them but it's just the skeleton of it, the real meat of the plot is entirely my own cooking. Some of the influence that is more noticeable is from The Runesmith (By Kuropon), The King's Avatar (By Butterfly Blue) and Shadow Slave (By Guiltythree). I have immense respect for these legends and I can only hope to follow in their footsteps. To all those who comment just by judging the name, at least give it a chance before letting your opinions known. Thank you.
